How can you say that you already reached your goals as a human?

I've been wandering about why I'm in this world living. I was born poor not lucky enough unlike other people I've known. When I was a kid, I need to sell ice drops in our community to sustain our daily living. My mom always asking me to do it since my father is not earning much to cover all the important needs that we need in life. Aside for not having a stable job he oftenly go to his friends to gamble and drink. I never asked for more from my father but I wanted to feel how to become rich. I've wanted to live in a big fancy house. How comfortable, isn't? Well, I hope I can make it someday. I told to my self that before I leave this world I should be able to feel being rich. For poor people, is being rich the main goal in life as a human? Do you think you are fulfilled if you were able to attain it? How about for rich people, what are their main goal in life since they have evryething they wanted? It is hard to think. I've been dwelling of it since then. Life is hard and unfair. So complicated....

I think i can say that i already reach my goal if i'm already feel contented in what i have and i already give all the needs of my parents, husband, and kids. I can also say that i already reach my goal if i already give the financial support of my family and my kids have sure good future. I want my kids to finish there schooling and get a good job. If i already give them a good education and i see to them that they got a good job i can say i reach my goal.

I think being human is never ever getting satisfied. Even if you are born rich, you would still strive to achieve some goals you set for yourselves, e.g. to be richer.
I think all of your hardships growing up will just better prepare you as a productive member of society. You will work harder and keep achieving more and more goals. In this sense, you'll never be able to say you've reached yours.

The thing about fulfillment has such a wide meaning on it, a person can be fulfilled in so many aspects of their lives even if they don't have anything on their pocket..
As for me, i can say that I have not yet reached my goals in life.. I wanted to have a better life for my mom, and I wanted to help others in so many ways.. and by doing this i need to work hard and earn more..
So i guess reaching goals can easily be done if you know what are your purpose in life, start from there and in the end of the rainbow you'll the pot of gold...:)

Hello Innodegu,
Welcome to Mylot.
I know how it pinch when you need something and you don't have the money to buy it.I am not born rich and have struggled in my life to get some basic things in my life too as we were 4 brothers and my father being the only earning member then too he tried his best to give us the best he could give us.
But don't think that way every one has something which they want to aceive which not necessarily they acheive in life. Not every rich person is rich most of them have lack of time for which they feel bad.I know one of my friend's father who is millionaire but spend very less time with his family. When i compare him with my father i always thank God for not making my father rich.![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

Hi Inno, welcome to myLot!
I would have to say that there are a lot of people that would dream the same dreams that you have. All of us have a story to tell, some good ones but most of them, not so much. This would seem like a sermon to you, and I hope it does make a mark in your heart. Being rich is not the end all and be all of all things. I understand that you merely want to experience it, but making it as a personal goal wouldn't really make sense if you do not have a motivation. Being rich isn't a motivation-- it is a result of an achieved goal. If being rich is the best thing that could happen to your life, then why are there rich, unhappy people. I think that the important thing you have to realize and recognize is that you cannot equate being rich to being happy. It is NOT TRUE that rich people always have everything they want in life. On that note, it is NOT a guarantee that happiness can be attained by being rich.
I'm sure that you are rich in a different sense. You seem to still have both your parents-- that's wealth in itself. Many people are not blessed to have parents long enough to be with them. The way I see it, you have an opportunity to seize the things that are good and improve the things that aren't. There is a reason to every event in our life. There is a purpose for every person that we meet, whether they are our family, our friends or even strangers. The world works in a grand design and your belief is what mostly what your life becomes. If you believe you are poor, then you probably are. But if you believe you are rich, then you can be the richest you can be. The way you think about thinks molds the world you live in. This means that you have an influence over the outcome of your life, and it starts with your outlook in life.
If we go back to your question, reaching a goal is not the ultimate thing. Dreams evolve as we progress in life. For every goal or dream achieved, we create new ones. It goes on. But how do you know you've reached a certain goal? When you can honestly say that you have committed yourself to it, and you've tried all avenues to attain it, and you've learned a lot from the experience you had to go through to achieve it, whether you succeed or you fail-- that's an achieved goal, at least in my books, for as long as you put your back on it, and work really hard for it.

Fulfillment is such a subjective word. People differ in their sense of fulfillment. But I think it would be hypocritical of me not to consider being rich as a form of fulfillment since I also wasn't that fortunate to be born with a silver spoon. I think it's probably because it's a goal of mine to be rich and achieving a goal is in a sense a kind of fulfillment too.
