I think it's bad depending on what game and how much time is being played. It's definately bad to be addicted to video games, then nothing gets done.If it's a bad rating for the game it's terrible.I think violent games are definately bad.I also believe video games are so pointless, because you're not accomplishing anything in real life. It's virtual, which means you're not accomplishing anything at all but maybe wasting time, when there's other things to do.

Hi, I don't think video games are bad for kids. My son was very much fond of video games. But he was also good in studies. But I think video games should be played in free times after completing homework or studies. I read somewhere that video games increases concentration of mind.

if children are good in studies and do their homework then they deserve a treat and playing their computer games are a good treat. My mother used to the same with me i couldnt play mu computer or watch the cartoons untill i have done my homework. I learned from this, if you want rewards you have to work hard.

Depending on what game it is and how much time is spent playing said games, it could be good or bad. There are some very educational games out there as well as some very bad ones. Parents need to learn that games have age ratings on them for a reason, I've seen kids who are 10yrs old playing games meant for kids 17+ or even aimed at adults. Which I think is very wrong.

that is a good point there are lots of educational games that are brilliant for kids to use in school my missus is a school teacher and she uses games sometimes for the children to play. Games make learning fun but i much prefer children to play sports and games because i think its better for them.

I personally think that it depends on which video games they are playing. Some video games are educational, which is the type that I typically played when I was younger. My aunt has also incorporated educational video games as a way to help my cousin learn things while being entertained. That being said, you did make a good point that it used to be video games and other activities and in the more modern age it seems to be video games CONSTANTLY with no other activities- just hours in front of the TV. This, of course IS bad for several reasons. The lack of exercise the child will experience from being sedentary for the majority of the day (i.e. sitting in school all day then coming home to sit in front of the TV playing a video game) can lead to the child becoming overweight or obese, which will then lead to potentially seriously health risks. Some exercise, even just running around playing games, is needed for everyone, children included. If the game station involves being in front of the TV to play the video game, this could also do damage to the eyes if it is done for hours on end, day after day. If the games are violent, they could desensitize young players to violence and the consequences of breaking laws. There is also the chance that a child's grade could go down if the child is spending more time playing video games and no time on homework or studying. So, long story short: video games themselves are a great way to relax, get out aggressive emotions, and even learn something. However, as is the case with all things, there IS such a thing as too much time spent on video games.

true some video games such as brain training on the wii and ds are good but really kids should be learning these out of books by doing pictures and puzzles. Its important that kids take part in group activities and play sports. One argument for video games is that it does improve their reactions and heightens their awerness

playing video game is not bad as long as you can pay the bill and also as long as they still have time to study their lessons. unlike me since im a kid i just play a video game and i will not go to school so its clearly bad.

thats a good point kids should not be missing school to play video games, but thats down to the parents they should be sending their kids to school
