How the heck could this have happened...the child was at the
laundromat with her mother...It had to take her some time to
crawl up into the vending machine..its the one with the stuffed
animals inside..
Who leaves a 2 year old to just la la around at the laundromat??
Anyone could have walked away with that child if she was out
of her mothers site long enough to climb into a vending machine.
This is absolutely C R A Z Y,,, this is a perfect example of
NEGLECT....
Whats your take on this??? have you ever heard of anything like
this????

Yes it makes you wonder, a two year old needs to be watched contantly, this has happened a few times of lately here in Australia, they are going to put special guards inside to stop that but then mothers are really going to have to watch their kids, in this world today they are probably safer in the vending machines than being grabbed by someone.

hi lilaclady and bjc tell me about it my son was three lisa was two when I heard this from their room,"wobbie no no. hurt Lisa"
oh my g I rushed in there in time to stop the hair cut from
happening. Robbie had a small pair of kindergarten type scissors
and was determined to give little sister a haircut. Thank goodness
he got the scissors caught in her long hair. I was floored.I asked
my son"why were you trying to cut her hair?" He looked up and in
all innocence said" mommy her hairs too long." I wanted to laugh but had to be stern and make sure he understood no you do not cut sister's hair.It only takes a moment of not watching and wham they get in trouble.I had thought they were happily playing but no too
quiet which always spells trouble.

I always hear stories about stuff like this, and it always amuses me when there's a picture (as horrible as that sounds). It's just a little humorous to see a human being inside of a vending machine.
But you're absolutely right, this has to be a form of neglect. I'm the youngest of four siblings. If my parents weren't watching me, then it was another adult or one of my older siblings. The child had to first get away from the mother, then find the vending machine, and then crawl inside of it. That process must have taken some time. The mother definitely should've noticed faster.

Mrconrad, you got the got exactly what I was saying...
Somebody has to be responsible for keeping an eye on
the toddler..It dosen't take a genious to know that...
You are so right,,,it had to take some time to end up
there and out of sight of his mother...

Honestly with a very active child they could have gotten themselves up inside one of the large vending machines with toys in them within probably less then a minute. The woman probably though that in a laundrymat as long as she had her eye on the door that the child couldnt get out and would be safe. Who would ever have expected a child to try to climb inside a vending machine. I feel bad for the child who would have been in such fear as well as the mother who was probably panicing when her child was stuck inside.

I am sure she was panicing as well as she could have been..
You never know what a child will do, that why you should
by all means keep an eye on them at all times..
But if he was able to get up in the vending machine he
also could have climbed into a machine or could have run
out of the building,,,after all obviously, she didn't have
him in her sight at all times....

It is very likely that something like this could happen when a child is left unattended. Whatever can the parent be doing not to notice that such a think was happening. it only takes a dew minutes for something drastic to happen.

Her mother was probably stoned on something or focusing on a cell phone or something. I heard of this happening before and I had similar thoughts.. of like... HOW this could happen. It wouldn't if the parents paid attention... Stuff happens when they let their kids run all over the place making all kinds of noise... one could get lost and the mom would never know it.

You know I asked the same question when I saw that video. Where on earth was her mother that her two year old was able to climb into the vending machine?
The sad part is in this country, social services probably wont even look twice at the fact or say it was an accident, maybe visit the family, and if there is no problems then leave.
I am still trying to figure out what was so important the mother didn't realize her child ran off or was climbing into the vending machine. As I already said where the heck was she?

I know some moms are really busy and do not have anyone to look after the toddlers or small kids when they are doing house chores. But leaving a child unattended in a laundromat makes me shiver. What if it wasn't the vending machine that the child crawled into? What if it were into one of those washing tubs? I know that a laundromat is no place to leave a toddler alone because the kid may bump, bruise or even slip.
The sad thing about today's world is that you cannot leave your child out of sight anymore because as you said anyone could've grabbed the child and just left. But there are a lot of parents that don't deserve kids. I have seen a lot of them here in my country where the mothers gossip with other mothers on the streets leaving their toddlers to run about. Then and only when does the child get hit by a car does the mother begin to scream and run to the child and would even blame the driver who would accidentally hit the child.
I would also sometimes see parents walking with their children on busy highways or streets. Not that it's wrong to walk with their children, but the child is on the side where the vehicles are passing and not on the safe side. And you would see the parent hurling curses after the cars or drivers if some car nearly hits the child. I mean, you feel safe because you are walking on the safe side of the sidewalk, you never realized that your child isn't?

hi bjc66bjc oh I got in on this thing first hand.I was working in the l ibrary and a windstorm blew out a transformer.the library was in the dark so we closed and I was paid for the day anywayl so I stopped in my favorite restaurant. as i walked int the entrance there was several people arou nd the vending machine of stuffed'tosy. Inside was a boy maybe two or three crying, the manager was trying to open the thing, the waitresses were trying to find his parents. lol. so finally they call the police and the fire department oh my g what a mess. then a locksmith got up and asked if the could help, he had made a duplicate of the key that was supposed to open the thing. now the parents arrived and the father was yelling at the manager and the mom was bawling. I would have just gone in and sat down but could not even get past the crowd.
so I was close to the crying child. I said, son can you hear me?'he stopped crying to look at me, then I said,: if you will stop crying the men will get you out, okay.they have to hear each other. He scowled but quit crying. One of the firemen had a screwdriver and while the others were spinning their wheels he undid some screws and just lifted the face off the thing, the child had broken his wrist and noone knew how on earth he got in there. that machine stayed out of order for a week. According to
the daily paper, the father was suing the restaurant for his son getting trapped in there. the parents had been so busy talking to some p eople outside the restaurant they did not even know the kid was missing til they came in and saw him crying in the machine.
I still do not know how he managed to get into the thing. but I know that the parents lose their suit. they were charged with the repairs to the machine according to the paper. I would think that they could fix that machine so another child could never getinto
it. kids that young do not know any better but bjc parents do and should parent their kids.

Kids are small and limber. And mix that with curiosity and there you have it. If a mother turns to fold some clothes for just a second that is all it takes. It must have taken the toddler some time to climb inside and you'd think a decent mother would check on her child occasionally. No, I have never heard of such a thing.
