hi friends.
considering news channels have been going crazy with this for the past week or so,that you might have heard it.
sahara pulled out its sponsorship from team india and pulled its team pune warriors from IPL.
they said something about not considering their feelings, long time coming, blah blah blah.whatever.
the few demands were since yuvi wont be playing this IPL,they want about 1.9 million dollars back in their purse, since last season only 74 matches were played instead of 94,they want money back, another stratigic partner, etc.
this was actually plain blackmail.
if a team pulls out of the auction and ipl as well as stopping sponsorship for the national team,it wont be saying "we want our players to play"?
to read between the lines, you wont be getting no more 2000 crores from us if you treat as dirt,so we are pulling our sponsorship and team and see how long you can survive.dont be stupid and just accept our demand or else.........
naturally BCCI gave up.
there was one very stupid demand.they want to field 5 foreign players just like mumbai indians did in last year champions league.
well incase of mumbai almost 9 indian players were injured and had only 7 or 8 remaining so they asked for the extra player.but pune has only one injured player, then why?

This is business...what perfect timing by Sahara (brilliance!!!)- got involved in cash rich IPL, Yuvraj's ailment, Mumbai Indians fielding 5 foreigners lst year, they faring poorly last year...all summed up, they came out with the list of demands...which had BCCI worrying and ultimately had to bow down under Sahara's pressure... brilliant minds...just brilliant

Hi star.
What you have said is correct and I too think the action of Sahara is uncalled for. Of course BCCI is not above criticism. Being the richest body they are show their tantrums. What is there is after all money. This is not cricket that plays but money. And you see as a whole the viewers of the matches are receding gradually.

Sahara's timing of blackmail is perfect( if we can term it as a blackmail, in my opinion the demand was fair). At the moment India's performance is not so impressive to find a new sponsor quickly, specially after the test series.
BCCI is not also playing fair about IPL I think. They do not want to refund the money to sahara coz they are saying it is rule but I think it is an one side rule which keeps the profits for BCCI and only BCCI. Why don't they give ravindra jadeja his full amount of money which he has got from this bid. They have kept their share in it and jadeja will be given the price he has got in the previous season.
It is not like that they have never loosen their rule. Mumbai Indian was allowed to play with five foreign player when the rule is to play with only four.
Sahara's demand is pretty considerable. When they buy a team for 1700cr and invest a lot of money in sponshorship for BCCI I think they deserves some favor for sure.
