I got this e-mail today in my student account. Because I've maintained a 4.0 GPA, I have been nominated to join the Honor Society Alpha Beta Gamma. I'm not really sure what that means. I guess it sounds impressive, and will be a nice addition to my resume, so I will probably go ahead and join, although I'm a bit confused about it all. Did you ever join an honor society like this?

It is a organization that was started in the 1970's if what I read was the right stuff..Yeah it probably will be good to join. Here is a link where I found the info. Maybe it is different then what you or others searched already. http://abg.org/gen-info-main.asp

Hmm, maybe this is about their annual enrollment period.

A big congrats to you for all your hard work! It's a big honor I am sure. I have never been invited to something like this for scholastics....good for you!

Funny thing is, I lost my motivation this semester and didn't really care about my grades anymore. I still did well enough anyway, not really on purpose.. but here I am not caring enough and then I get this e-mail. It sort of re-inspired me a little, but not much! LOL.

Although I was a member of a fraternity in college/university, it wasn't an honor society. I hope you already joined. I think it is worth it! Even if it may not mean much to others, it may mean something to the right person. You might be applying for a job in the future and your resume might be on the desk of someone who's also a member of the Alpha Beta Gamma, then you'd already have a definite advantage.

I did fill out the paper work and pay the membership dues, haven't heard anything back yet. I do think it's kinda cool. Even if you've never heard of it, I still think it's cool that I can say I'm a member of Alpha Beta Gamma, you know it's important even if you haven't heard of it.

Any honor society is probably worth joining. I was never invited to join one since my grades in college weren't stellar, but my brother's a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. He's not active recently though. If you have some apprehensions, why not check out their alumni roster and what the society has been doing. And besides, if you eventually feel the society isn't actually what you had thought it would be, you could always become inactive or something :) And yes, they do seem to have some bearing in one's resume.

I am a member of an honor society called Alpha Sigma Lambda due to having a GPA of 3.8 or above. I only had to pay 20 dollars once and I am a member for life without having to pay another dime for dues again. I am an online student and it is quite the honor to be in such prestigious company.
