recently all computers in the office were joined to one network. so every one can see each other's files. this i am not comfortable. i wish to have some files confidential but i do not know how to bar it. someone said i place a password. i am using microsoft office word 2003 because most of my files are letters and communications. i have one folder for reports to the president of the corporation which i want to be barred from everyone. but since i do not have a formal education on IT, i guess i am having difficulty doing it. can anyone show me the way how? it has to be fed to me. thank you very much for your help. ann

You should resolve your issue within your office. You have to immediately consult with your computer system network administrators on how to solve or to make solutions accordingly to your issue or problem. Like, to make all of your confidential files hidden in your computer local network system. Your computer system network administrators can handle these better for what issues or problems you have.

Network security wise - as an admin I'd be annoyed with people changing the policies set in place for the network to function as its expected to. Some admins go as far as locking regular users out of controlling functions such as sharing. Simplest way to not have other people view your files is to save them to a memory stick or camera card. A external storage device will not by default be shared with the network.
