I know that those different chips in the supermarket are junk foods. Yet, even if I am already a bit old, I still like buying some whenever we buy groceries. My husband and I cannot control ourselves from eating them, when we are watching TV, partnered with iced tea. When our daughter is with us during vacations from school, she too would eat them with us. I know that they are not healthy foods, so we don’t eat them everyday.

I think chips have some addictive additives that makes us crave for them. I will admit that I also love eating chips partnered with cola. Before, it's like our dessert after eating a meal but now we lessened them because we're afraid to have some illness related to eating them excessively.

I don't think anything is addictive but I could seriously eat ONE chip - if that's all I wanted lol. It's also about not sitting down somewhere and vegging out and having the bag right there in front of you. That only causes you to keep eating when you aren't even hungry.

Well, mommyboo, i think you are right. My husband and i actually aren't that hungry after dinner , but because we are watching TV, it seem to give us an avenue to be eating them too.

I second this - I suspect there are addictive additives them. I'm fine and don't crave chips at all until I taste some. I used to eat them a lot when I had no access to healthy food at a reasonable price - chips made me feel like I ate something and it was relatively cheap. Well, it was a mistake.

Chips aren't actually that bad if you don't sit there and eat the whole bag every day. I am shocked by the amount of people who advocate never eating anything that might be considered 'junk' but I think I know why they do. These people can't control themselves when they start eating things like this, so they believe EVERYBODY is that way. Everybody is NOT that way. I say if you want to have some chips now and then, do it. Popcorn is also another good alternative, or nuts, dried fruit, etc. Just put some on a napkin or in a bowl and put the bag back in the pantry so you aren't tempted to mindlessly keep eating them.

I think sometimes, we eat chips out of boredom, not out of hunger. Specially, when we are watching TV, our tendency is to eat some chips. So, substituting them with peanuts and banana chips woukd be a lot healthier way.

It's good that you don't eat them every day. Have you tried vegetable chips in lieu of the standard potato chips? They are a bit more nutritious but provide an experience similar enough to that of eating potato chips that they may work well as a substitute. A sweet substitute would be banana chips or other dehydrated fruit. That might not provide a close enough experience, though, for you to find it a satisfactory substitute, since you do have a fairly established routine. I do have a weakness for goods fresh from the bakery. I need to reign that in a bit more. While it doesn't put the weight on me, I know that it isn't a healthy habit. My diet is fairly healthy, but it could definitely be healthier.

Yes, we know that it's unhealthy to eat those junks , so we don't actually eat them everyday. Yes, we do sometimes substitute the junks with banana chips, peanuts and slices of fruits. WE just have something to munch while we watch TV at night, after dinner. It seems to serve as a dessert for us.

I understand your struggle, and I can relate to that. I sometimes eat such kind of snacks. I think it is okay to try them from time to time, but not all the time. If you do, you'll get sick with all those salts and chemicals loaded in them.

Correct! We should learn how to limit our intake of those chips, lest they will make us sick already. At any rate, we can always have some healthy substitute to them, like peanuts or banana chips. Or have some slices of apples, papayas, pineapples or bananas.

Oh. The same with and my siblings too. There are also times that my parents would join us digging the chips we have! :) Its a nice stuff to bond with the fam. Yea, its not a healthy food but we crave for it. I think as a human. craving is healthy. a friend of mine who is a medical transcriptionist said that its not good to deprive ourselves on what we crave for. The more we deprive ourselves, the more we crave.. Its better to take it something what you crave for a while! :)

Yes, we should give in to our cravings every now and then. If it's what makes us happy then go for it. You just have to know its limitations. And yes, seeing one eating chips would make you want to eat it too. Hence , the family joins in when one is eating it.

I like to eat chips once in awhile too that not too much to avoid any unnecessary effect in health.I do lessen eating junk foods now not like before, health conscious now.But there are times that I can resist it especially when I'm the mood to eat.

Well, it's also nice if we once in a while get to eat some chips. It takes away the boredom in just sitting in front of the TV. Though, we can also substitute them sometimes with the healthy chips, such as the banana chips, pilinuts or peanuts. Sometimes, we munch on slices of fruits.

Yes I know what you mean, I have to really stop buying that sort of thing because I just can't stop eating that sort of thing, I am a vegetarian that doesn't like too many vegetables so I have to eat something...

Knowing that "chips" are unhealthy for you, loaded with transfats, chemicals and salt, have you tried some healthy alternatives..like popcorn, nuts or seeds??? Seeds like sunflower, or pumpkin, toasted and without salt, keep your hands and mouth busy, but are good for you! Same with nuts! Popcorn has many good attributes, as long as you do not load it with salt & butter! Fruit or raw veggies--a good substitute, too! Thank goodness, I do not really care for chips, they really are just empty calories! I truly hope you can break this trend. Good luck. And Cheers!

Actually, i just buy those chips as a ready food if ever we get the urge to snack at night. But i do buy some apples and peanuts too, so we could refrain from eating those chips too often. It's usually at night when we watch TV before finally sleeping that we get to eat apples , peanuts or chips. It has become a bonding way for us.

I am guessing it is a bit of a sentimental thing! I stopped eating any form of junk...just by not buying it, that was the easiest for me! Also, I live in an area, where shopping closes early, so that I can't run out and buy snack foods!

Chips...YUM. I love chips - Dorito's, Lays, whatever. They are so good! I make sure to NOT buy these when I go to the grocery store - I don't need all those carbohydrates... . By the way, thanks a lot, you have me craving chips now!

Yes, Doritos and Lays are some of the best chips. Though they cost more than our local versions here. Though, i can say that i don't also crave for them. It's just that at night, we feel that we just have to munch on something while we watch TV on our bedroom, after dinner. Sometimes, we munch on apples and other slices of fruits or peanuts. It has already become a habit for us to munch on something while we watch TV.

chips are also made out of fruit etc.. buy a small bag if you can't controll yourself. Also.. not every potato chips is the same, making themselves might help too to control your eating. Personally I don't like the taste but I am also not that crazy about potatoes. But if you eat them: enjoy it!

You're not alone. I LOVE chips, too! After work, my sister and I would eat some chips while watching our favorite show. It's our way of relaxing and bonding just like you and your hubby.:) It just feels so nice to eat something that won't make you feel very full (we have dinner early). I know it's not healthy, so we try to substitute the chips with other healthier snacks. Sometimes, we would buy chips from Healthy Options. But they're very expensive and they're not particularly healthy either.

Yes, even if we had our dinner already, chips would still be eaten . They are not that filling indeed and they seem to be our desserts after dinner.

Yes they're junk foods and it can actually make us fat too. It can as well trigger our UTI. Yet, we always have a bag of chips, a liter of softdrinks in the fridge. Although I am not much into it now as compared when I was younger I still eat them. But not everyday too.

Oh, we don't also eat them always. Sometimes, it would be apples , slices of papaya , or pineapple or peanuts that we are munching at night, while watching TV after dinner. Eating something while watching TV after dinner , seems to make us more bonded.

Oh I know exactly what you mean! My personal weakness would have to be Pringles chips. They are so delicious, and I love snacking on them while watching TV or playing cards with my friends. I have to be careful though, because sometimes even when I am doing laundry or making dinner, I go to reach for them Lol. I would eat them while reading too, but then I would dirty the pages haha. My favorite flavors of Pringles are Pizza, and Sour Cream and Onion. I could snack on those all day!! I also tried the Pringles "multi-grain/whole-grain" and they weren't bad, but they don't compare to Pizza Pringles in my opinion! Besides Pringles, I also like Ruffles chips for dipping, but I think overall Lays makes the best "potato chip" hands down. You just can't beat that light crisp and salty flavor of classic Lays' potato chips. Oh no, now I want some!!

Oh Lay's, yes it i think the most delicious. It's not as salty as Pringles and that's what i like. However, they are expensive.

hello! I'm also a junkfood lover. But when we get older we limit ourselves eating too much of it. And you are doing great so keep it up!
