Hi friends!
Are you the one who loves to hear and reads the news and gossips about celebrities.
I have seen many pulling out the supplements and pull outs from the morning newspapers to check what is happening in the personal life of a celebrity.
Even if a celebrity is down with fever or cold the news is highlighted with his or her pictures and many enjoy reading it.
And many of us tune into TV channels which only air news about film celebrities and their lives.
I personally feel knowing about any celebrity is not bad per se but should we make ourselves so obsessed with their lives and happenings that we ignore other important happenings or news for their sake?
How happenings in their personal lives carry more importantance for us than the other news, this baffles me.
Your views on this issue please.
I may add here that opinions may differ here from person to person based on his or her personal choice and likings and the post is not to offend any mylotter or their tastes, it is just a general discussion.
Thanks in advance for your response.

I get interested in the personal lives of some celebrities that I like but not to the extent of going out of my way to buy a gossip magazine or watch a talk show whose guests are celebrities. Actually, my interest is usually about the bad things that happened to them like if they got into a fight or had an accident, stuff like those, and not about their love life or their married life.

I am one of those people who are interested on what's happening in the life of my favorite celebrities. I really don't know why but when I was young I am fond of reading articles about celebrities and I love to read the Entertainment section in a broad sheet. I like those celebrities who are Down to earth and who knows how to count their blessings.

Try to find out what attracts you towards celebrities?
There would be very few celebrities who are down to earth, I believe.
Thanks for sharing.

It is always better not to get awareness about the personal lives of those celebrities whom you hold in high esteems. The personal life and upbringing of those celebrities differ much from what you have gained about their personal life so far. It is full of filth...

Hi dear!
It means that you do not to know too much about personal lives of celebrities as their lives and upbringing would be different from yours.
Thanks for sharing and kick starting the discussion.

Its some peoples hobby to intrude into the personal lives of celebrities. How it affects their life is hard to fathom. I never get excited reading about their lives. Yes when some reveal their past, the tough way they endured to reach where they are now, i read with interest, becoz there is something to learn.

No. Not really. I am interested in them to the extent that I get to learn something from them, inspiration or whatever. But who they date, what they wear, what they eat, do they have cellulites, etc., is not what I am looking for. But if Princess Di looked beautiful, I definitely appreciated her. And after the tabloids had poured so much about her - perhaps, I was keen that she finally finds some happiness. Other than that..nope. Not at all.

Hi dpk
The only thing I like about these celebs is - they make tall claims. Only that. Nothing else - even whether they try to do their tall claims or not or even what they do doesnt bother me.
The dialogs they share during Interviews seem to be interesting though. Some are great orators and I like listening to their dialogs. Beyond this, I have a small brain and a heart that tell me if and how to make use of their statements if they are worth.

I have never been big about knowing alot about celebrities. My daughter or my brother or someone may sometimes tell me something about a celebrity that I like and I enjoy hearing about it or it makes me feel bad if I have to hear something bad that has happened to them. It always breaks my heart to hear about a celebrity dying or someone in their families dying. I hurts me to hear this.

Hi Jai! :-)
Nice to see your here. There is nothing wrong in loving Nicolas Cage and to be his ardent admirer and fan.
He just can not be on the top without the unflinching support of dedicated fans like you.
One always remains interested to know about the latest movie of one's favourite actor and it is norm with every one. But digging deep into their lives perhaps is not good.
Many thanks for sharing and enriching the post. :-)
Have a great evening.

I noticed that too. I will normally read other news first,
I will still read about celebrities and I love to watch
movies and the casts are celebrities that I will read,
or hears about them on the radio. They tends to be the topic
that people chat about at social gatherings, for some ice
breaking moments, or Q&As at events runs by radio stations.

Hi dpk,
Yes I was the kind of person who loves to know about their personal lives. But that was before... when I was still very young. Now I don't even know much about celebrities. I get to know things about them when it just caught my attention. If they were featured on yahoo or they got involved with a big issue.

I honestly don't care enough to worry about the lives of celebrities. I mean I have my own life to worry about and most things seem so staged its ridiculous. When people talk about it, I just shake my head like does it really matter? What are they truly contributing to society and so on.

yes, i agree when you say people tend to search on net and read gossip articles. i always wonder how difficult it is to be a celebrity also. come to think of it, if u r a celebrity and every act of urs is published somewhere. i guess to some extent even media is making a mockery of themselves by chasing celebs stories and acts. i rembr recently, though when aishwarya rai was pregnant, it came as a breaking news on some channels. isn't it a mockery in itself. however, media was matured enough not to publish the baby's birth in the same way. the sweet little kido has her rights of privacy as well..however how many incidents do we come across...we still have a large chunk looking for gossip stories...no intended to hurt any feelings....just wanted to put across my point of view....

Hi Shweta!
I love your comments that media gives undue importance to these so called great celebrities and chase them like any thing. Media invades the privacy of film stars beyond their imagination and some of us enjoy digging the intimate details of film stars.
It is nice to hear that this discussion featured in the 'hot topic' category. Thanks for sharing.

hum"thinking"(; ... I guess I am into all that gossip, I mean I do watch some reality tv shows and I have US Weekly on my iPad which I usually check out p&read about it when I'm out and I'm carrying it around. It's entertaining but then again a lot of mags usually follow the same story's and there's so much magazine compition going on with the latest news so it's all kind of annoying, but would I go out of my way to buy one or subscribe to a magazine ... nah!(:

My views are the same as yours. No harm in knowing about the personal lives of celebrities but being obsessed about it is when it gets out of hand. I have a few friends like that. But I'm not one of those.
But can't really blame the people either. Newspapers like Times of India literally shove the celebrities personal lives at your face and once one gets used to it, it's hard to read actual news (that's what my friends who are used to TOI say).

Hi SV!
You would read, what you like. Your friends should not blame Times of India for shoving stories about personal lives of celebrities. If they do not want to read it, they always have a choice. They actually love the juicy stories and they only open those pages, which interest them, when they get the newspaper in their hands.

Hi mlk!
Yes, you could say so that reading about celebrities is a way to get rid of monotony and boredom because otherwise reading about stuff like terrorism, murder and killing etc. makes us feel depressed.

Hi Deepak! I am one of those who likes to read celebrity gossips, though I don't always believe to what I am reading! I just enjoy reading them specially if it's my favourite actor/actress on the front page, but I don't really give much opinion on what's going on and sympathy to some! I wouldn't call myself obsessed about celebrity gossips, I just like to read to know something about the celebrities.

I do not give attention to the personal lives of celebrities. Only when news are cultural or shocking that captures my attention.I do not understand why so many people want to know everything about the lives of famous and others.I know that morbid curiosity is a characteristic of almost all human beings, but luckily I worry about my life.

I think people like that are quite sad, they should mind more about their own lives instead.
Spending time reading a book or even playing a game is worth way more than doing that.
