We have a pantry we have enough food to last about a year on what we have in our pantry. My question to you is do you have a pantry? How long could you live on the food you have in your pantry? Could you make it 5 months on what you have in your pantry?

I have a freezer and a pantry area. I probably could make it three months on what I have, but no longer. I recently had to go about six weeks without major shopping, just milk and eggs and fresh stuff. I like having a supply on hand.

I keep powdered milk and canned milk on hand as well. I suppose I could get liquid eggs and freeze them. I am rebuilding my stores right now. I also buy toilet paper and cleaning supplies in bulk.

hi dear free_man our pantry is really small so it wont hold food for such a long period of time. We re organized it a while ago cause some stuff got forgotten in it and that should not happen at all.
Got some canned stews, soups and veggies right now and a bit of pasta and my husband who loves to eat fish has real loads of that stuff in there too.

Hi RitterSport always wise to keep a pantry and keep what we like to eat in there. How does he keep fish in your pantry? You don't like fish I gattered from the way you said that your husband keeps fish. We love fish it is a healthy food for us to eat. Depending on what kind of fish it is I guess. We love cat fish but it is a bottom feeder and it really isn't good for your health to eat it. But like most we still eat cat fish!

Yes, I've always had a pantry. I would panic if I only had enough food for a week or a month. What if something happened and I couldn't get to the store or didn't have money for food?
I'm not sure how long my stock would last, but at least 5 months, I think. I have a good variety, so it wouldn't be hard to live on it.

That isn't good my friend. We too live from paycheck to paycheck. Not a good situation. We get stuff that is on sale so if something happens we will still have something even if it isn't fresh. I know how hard it is believe me and we can only do what we can. Good luck my friend!

Hi free_man and all! It's been a long time since I wanted to have a pantry of one year's food. Wow I don't know how you do it, you must've spent a fortune. I can't even make my own last for 1 month. I can't afford to stock up on food but I know there are ways to make some food last longer. I'm still finding those mideastern bread that lasts for one year. Now I'm thinking of making some pickles of many kinds, dried fish, and date fruit (they are good for health and stamina). Taking a look at the current world states, I believe stock up on effective food is very useful. Food prices are skyrocketing. We can start saving some food each month for stock -- little by little -- it will become a mountain of stock.

Hi Alraraham and welcome to my lot. It took us years to stock up on things like dried beans and can goods so we could be prepared just in case of an emergency. We both believe in having things ready for any situation. It wasn't easy but when we see something on sale we stock up on it so we will have extra just in case. Good thinking making dried fish and date fruit we love pickles. Good luck on stocking your pantry my friend!
