Not finishing food and drink in Neighbours

Has anyone else noticed that food and drink is never finished in Neighbours? Every episode there are scenes where people are talking with a drink in front of them, but they always seem to leave with the drink left nearly full. If it only happened occasionally I could understand it, but it happens all the time. It's got so that I'm sitting there thinking 'go on, go on finish the drink or the salad - you can do it!', but it never happens. Is this an Australian thing? It would really make my day to see someone finishing their meal or juice! (sad, I know!)

The wonderful world of soaps, no one ever eats or sleeps, we may hear about it every now and again but never really experience it. I will admit to watching them, but I had never noticed that particular point. The only other thing that I find amazing in soaps is their recovery time, open heart surgery two days and he is fine. Been shot, stabbed or injured in an accident give it a week and be right as rain. I know they can't realistically portray recovery times which can take months or even years but it still gets to me. That and the miracle cures, in particular in US soaps - long running soaps - they will get shot/etc and be in a wheelchair for a few weeks maybe a month or two, have a full recovery and then not even have a limp or scar. Well most of these shows require the suspension of disbelief but even that is not enough.

That is a very good point! I saw a meal being finished in Neighbours 2 days ago - I'm pretty sure it was the first time. If I didnt know they recorded it months ago I'd think someone saw my comment!

Is it the same in all soaps though? I have seen them watching telly in Neighbours - they only seem to do that if their sitting with a cushion on their lap!

I avoid all thoses soaps for the very reason that everyone is always fighting - I don't find that entertaining. Neighbours is very bland and unreal, so it doesnt make me angry - just puzzled about the number of unfinished meals and drinks! Still - imagine how exciting it will be when someone eventually does manage to leave with a cleaned plate or an empty glass!
