i've had love before but lost it...

i fell inlove with this girl i dated back in freshmen year of highschool, we were like the schools well known couple because she came from a rich family and i came from a not so fortunate family. we dated for 2 and a half years and i got way to into alcoholism and got alcohol poisoning one night and was in the hospital passed out for 2 days. i scared everyone including her but when i went to go see her she broke up with me and her family told me to stay away from her or there will be consequences and ever since then its just been hard for me to get in a relationship cause while dating her any girl that hitted on me and tried gettin with me i pushed them away and told them that im with someone i love.. its been 2 years now and im having a hard time finding true love again.. is this a sign that i should try to go back to her even tho she has a boyfriend that meets her requirements or just move on and try to find another love? but i've also no love like the first... :/
