Ecclesiastes 11:9
Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment.
--The happiness of our life depends upon he quality of our thoughts, to the way we react to situations. It is normal to be sad at times, but let us not dwell to much on this unpleasant feeling. Every minute we choose to be unhappy only aggravates the misery and deprives us of the joy we should have felt in very minute. Choose to be happy and don't postpone joy.
Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
--Being happy is a choice. It is us who decide whether we want to be glad or not. Regardless of the situation, even in moments of loss or defeat, we always have a choice to be joyful, to be thankful. It may be hard to do in times of adversity, yet, if we concentrate on the possitive sides of the sutuation, if we focus on the lessons we learn, if we realize how fortunate we are compared to others then we have enough reasons to be happy.

If I believed this as a child I would Never be happy, I still wouldn't believe I deserved to be happy. As a child I thought being happy was something that wasn't meant for me. So Every time I found myself happy I thought it was a mistake. Only a few years ago I learned I deserve to be happy too. So now when I find myself happy I totally enjoy it. But I don't think it is a choice. I am not made to look on the bright side for myself. So being happy while sad things happen is impossible.

" faith is a virture that everyone must posses." Well, not everyone possesses this and many wil Never search for it. I had faith that G-d didn't like me That much. Why else would I have a period when I was Never to have kids? Why else did I havea terible time in school. I Nevrr thought He cared. I just thought I was on my own. But then Again I didn't Choose my faith until I was 17. now I Know He is Way too busy for the minor stuff like . so this faith I Still don't have. so you are saying Just because I'm not religious the way you are I have chosen to be unhappy. Ok. I rather Still be unhappy and folow my own path than Have to follow someone else's.

During my primary years I always thought of having faith in God just by facing your both palms together near your chest and your eyes looking in heaven. This was the picture I always see in our board inside the classroom... I know that being young then my concept of faith is incomplete. As I grow older I discovered that faith is a virtue that everyone must posses... ""come what May""? Nope! GodWilling, It won't work for me.....Being Happy is a choice!

If there are things that could make us happy as long as we don't step on others shoes, then we grab the opportunity to be happy. We limit our happiness of course depending on various circumstances. Example we don't celebrate happy occasions when we are grieving or when it falls on a holy week. We refused to be happy on our success and others failures, so I think we limit our own happiness...

Happiness can't be assured to be limitless because it always depends on circumstances. If sad circumstances come, we can't avoid to be affected emotionally even if we are a person who want to be happy all the time. But we can always have positive outlook in life. Learn to find the blessing in every circumstances so that you can easily move on instead of dwelling on sad thoughts all your life.
As happiness depends on circumstances we might as well aspire to get joy rather because joy does not depend on circumstances but in our relationship with Jesus the giver of joy.

To be happy is a choice and I always choose to be happy even if one of my group mate's always telling me that it's not time to smile. I just respond to her that to be happy is a choice and I want to feel that I'm happy even if that Thesis is not going well today, anyway tomorrow is an another day. Each day is a gift from God and we must be thankful of it. Whatever happen we must always think positively because the almighty Father will never leave us especially in times of difficulties. We only need to ask and thank Him for everything :D

On my own opinion life is too short to dwell on unpleasant feelings.Yes it's just normal to feel sad at times or to be faced by trials but have you heard a line from Gary Valenciano's song which says " I just forget, You wont give me what I can't bear"., its a nice song right? This is what I do when ever I was faced by trials or problems,I know that He won't give me something that I can't bear these are just trials and tests so I will have to deal with it and smile that I can find ways to overcome them.So I live life to the fullest and see to it that whenever I am happy I want to share it with everyone else.Problems and trials come and go and we have to accept and stand again from it. :)

Of course I know and I like that song, much with the part you have mentioned. Indeed, God is much more than fair. NO one is being punished nor being blessed beyond what he or she deserves....what we sow we reap

LOL...likewise here, I will always be happy and I always conquer sadness when it strikes me... conquer in a sense, When I conquered it, handle it properly and I would never allow it to escape from my hands, LOL.. I'll make it sure to defeat it...

hello brother,
Ecclesiastes 11:9
The verse doesn't only mean about wordly happiness.
This is more of spiritual.
That we must worship and give glory to God while we are young.
Yes happiness is a choice.
And not every happiness means material things.
have a good day and nice to see you again dear bro

Well in fact Sis Jane and you Mr. jyuuken, People who posses material goods are in fact, they are the ones miserable, with everything they have, they still feel they want more, its a contant desire and still they heart will tell them to nag more... I agree, we have to follow the commandments in order for us to attain genuine happiness, spiritually, physically, morally ect...

Being happy is not a choice, but a state of mind or well-being that has to be achieved in certain points in our lives caused by circumstances that would affect as to be happy. True happiness is achieved when your heart and soul harmonizes, that is doing something good and making a difference.

Too deep. But I wouldn't limit my happiness, why should I? If I feel good about being happy. Life is short enjoy it and if you fail then stand and be happy. If you feel happy this time then seize the time to feel good emotionally, spiritually, and it will reflect in physically. :]

Well in fact, we can feel happy for no reason at all. We can choose to feel any way we wish. Whatever we crave, we crave becuase of the way we think it will make us feel. Whatever we want to keep away from we want to keep away from becuase we dont wish to experiece the feelings what we assume it will bring.

Perhaps yes, for I had to do a lot of things and some what the pressure of earning is on my nerve since I haven' got any savings for my 2nd baby. I am currently pregnant on my second one yet no one is beside me that's why I need to limit up things even my own happiness because it's the only solution I have.:(

Nice to hear that. Although we have free will, we have to exercise that free will in a responsible way.... Now, limiting your happiness at the moment does not mean forever. You may be sad because of that limit you are dealing but your spirit are rejoicing...

How can you be happy, when everything that you pursue is running from you, faster than you can ever run?
You can definitely try to catch up, hoping.
But was not happines a journey?
It was the road to accomplishment taht was the most important, not the accomplishment itself.
I know that you have to find a way to enjoy your "trip" through life, but I haven't yet figured out, how can I be happy about what I already have at same time as trying to get more. It is a conflict in my head that I can not yet control to benefit me.
I can not find motivation to get more, if I am already contempt with what I have.

Aha, seem like you need a phsychological security there, my friend!
Do you believe in God?
If not, May I ask your religion?
Maybe, Dalai Lama can help you with this word "Happiness is not something ready made... It comes from your own action"
