now that i finished my degree, i came to ponder the significance of examinations given by our professors. most students are afraid of exams, but examinations are very important today because for me they compel students to learn. examinations also help us have some ideas about a person's knowledge of certain subjects. finally, examinations are interesting because we can test how much we ourselves know.
when i sit for an examination, i enjoy answering what i know, though i feel sad if i am not successful in an examination.
how about you guys, do you feel examinations are important and why?

A written or oral examination is very essential to all teachers and professors because this is where they could weigh all their students if they have understood their subject matters and it could also denote the quality of mentality these students are capable of in the eyes of their educators.I do not believe in students who claimed they are useless yet no one is useless if they just make their time useful by studying harder and just focus on their studies so that positive results could be achieve.

Examinations are very important to both teacher and students because it just showed how credible and strong the teaching techniques of the teacher. It also showed that the teacher and students relationship works well in the class. The students are all well behave and it shows their great respect to their teacher.

Very true. A student's success in an examination, therefore, helps employers and others to assess his or her mental or general ability.

Exams are important because of the many above mentioned reasons... I think many of us would not study enough if there were no exams, and many professions cannot allow that lack of knowledge. There is self-motivation, but for me it wouldn't be enough if there were no exams.

Exactly. There is a basic knowledge in every field that everyone should absorb (there are very abstract and not useful subjects, but they are not what I am talking about). Scholars and people after reaching a certain level of knowledge probably keep motivating and educating themselves, but most of us need examinations to see if we have learned enough.

you are right. if there were no examinations, most scholars would have been less informed that they are today. examinations compel students and other people to read as much as they can, and as they do so, they absorb knowledge unconsciously.

examinations assess how much we know, learned and understand of the subject at hand. it is a basis of evaluation to either pass or fail, thus reflecting our intellect. i remember passing a very difficult subject in college courtesy of my two seatmates who studied well for the test, lol!

Examination are really important. It measures the knowledge we gain and how much we know the subject. Admittedly, when I was a student I hate it when there is an examination. It made me cram that there is an upcoming examination and I feel that there is an information overload. But as I mature, it made me realize that I should embrace examination as a way to measure the knowledge I gained.

It is important cause it is the assessment of the things that we have learned and how far we learned. It will shows the part we we excel or the part we we have to improve and to study harder. It is the way for us to see how far we learn in school.

you are right. and also students of today must not only have a fair knowledge of the subject matter but also be able to show his intelligence and power of reasoning, especially if he is sitting for a higher examination. therefore, a student's or a person's ability to pass an examination must indicate some of his mental powers as well as his grasp of the subjects that he has studied.

you are right. it compels you to learn. without them, most students would not learn. students or people would learn only subjects in which they are interested and ignore the other subjects which are thought to be difficult, though they are very important in the modern age.

For me, they are important. And exam is one way of helping us assess what we've learned. It's actually for our own benefit. We would know where we need to improve on. I think students should have this mindset. It would lessen their dislike towards exams :)

that is true adhyz82. it shows that the student is able to express his thoughts and ideas to a manner others can understand. it also shows that the student has acquired a certain amount of knowledge in some branches of study.
