I think POPULAR music is always 'dying music'. Good musicians typically don't use Auto-tune. I think you need to look outside the box a little, start looking into local bands or a different genre of music. Try ROCK for example. Of course POP/top 40 music is boring and repetitive - if you listen to a radio station that boasts of being 'top 40' - what you're really hearing is the same 4 "popular" songs over and over again. It gets SO old. That doesn't mean there isn't good music out there, just waiting to be discovered by you. Like I said - check out a local radio station if you have one in your area. Check out a different genre, whether it's rock, classic rock, indie, whatever. Music isn't dying, it's just that top 40 "pop" music is annoying as all end! . Good luck with your discovery to new music... And welcome to MyLot, by the way!

The major music industry is focused on what is hip, hot, pertinent right now. There is very little passion in the "mainstream" musical industry but in indie and unsigned artists, the ones who don't have to bow to the whims and wishes of their managers, agents, record label execs, the ones who are doing things for themselves and selling CDs out of the trunk of their cars... that's what real music is about, where you find the real talent and real passion.

The music industry may be dying (and good riddance), but music is alive and well and living in the hearts and ears of everyone willing to make it, and listen.

I don't think that music is "dying" as such, but I don't think that there are as many things in the charts which I like to listen to as there might have been at some points in the past. I much prefer to listen to bands live who are a little bit smaller and can't afford to play big venues, as this means that they cannot use auto tune and I like that because you can see their raw talent a lot more clearly. Some bands who never sing live can't really sing at all, and they're more about the image than the music, and I will admit that I really don't like that in the slightest.

Well not quite, but I think that the mainstream, overproduced garbage that is getting shoved down our throats, that the vast majority of people think is music is causing everything else to be tainted by associated. There is some decent talent out there, but it will never be realized, as they grow complacent and quite lazy, pumping out song after song, while the ignorant masses purchase it. It really is sad to think that there will be a time where the music of 2012 will be considered to be classic. But then again, who really knows. Perhaps us old music fans, who wish for a different time, just are cranky, yelling about how these kids should get off of their lawn. There is some quality stuff but its just a matter of finding it, which is a problem.
