Having been a member for less than 24 hours, I can already feel a sense of security in the anonymity of this site, which leads me to believe that when I find my feet here, I will be able to open myself up to the members and bond with their personas. There are many things in my life that I simply don't feel that I can discuss with family and friends, but I do think that I will certainly be able to do that on here. I look forward to my interaction with everyone.

yes i've been here for 2 days and i've come to the conclusion mylot is a safe place for me to open up and not be judged by others

I have posted a similar topic here where I find my questions answered, I do not share the very personal ones but whenever there is a problem in some aspect of my life, I do post questions here and they are always answered. This is a wonderful site because it is not restricted to any topic, anybody can talk about anything as long as they do not violate the basic rules. I have found friends and good advice here, and this is what kept many users active here for many years, and I hope, for years to come.

Heh, you reminded em of my former discussion when I refereed mylot as my therapist. Some mylotters also refereed this site as some sort of therapeutic relief. I guess this is mainly because there is freedom in posting here some issues that people are trying to find answers, and in mylot, that freedom is accompanied by support by various mylot users. Some mylotters here are very good in giving advice and have the same experiences. Another benefit is that members here try to give a second, third or fourth (and so on) opinion about the situation. This creates a whole perspective on the issue and the poster can have a very good look at the big picture. Mylot have helped in various ways, as so as mylot users. I have been blessed to stumbled upon mylot and I am a damn proud member of this site.

i have noticed that quite a lot of people talk about personal things, but i do believe that strangers can help you more than people we know, it's like this in a lot of places, coming face to face with people and expressing your feelings isn't as easy as posting something for a whole bunch of strangers to see.

I'm new on mylot. I like the fact that I can discus with people from around the world.Not that I do not get to talk everyday but here things do not get to much personal.

YOU are so right, in many of your comments! Being around some 4+ years, I have bonded with, and made a plethora of Global friends, that I never would have encountered in "the real world," and so often, my friends are there to walk me down the right path...have a laugh with...and just to see their posts each day, to me is rewarding! I was new to the cyber world, when I joined myLot, and couldn't fathom, that there was a monetary reward for discussing life and it's nuances. A visit from my son, encouraged me to set up the Paypal account! I truly am here, for the love I have found..the monetary accruement is just a pleasant side-bar! And to you, Welcome...you are just a number away from getting your emoticons! Stick around and have fun, with the rest of us!

I agree with you and love the way you've titled tis discussion! I for one have limited sharing my personal life, mostly for privacy reasons. However, the one time I did share a personal issue, I received a tremendous amount of support and feedback. I don't think it was more than what my friends offline did for me, but it was certainly nice to hear others' perspectives and advice. And I defintely agree with you on your last statement. MyLot should get a new tagline: "Creating users from friends since 2004" (I think that's when myLot was founded, not too sure but too lazy to check right now)

Mylot is certainly a very supportive place with a lot of great people. I have recently suffered some loss that I certainly won't go to work and discuss. It wouldn't be appropriate. I have started a discussion about it here though. I felt comfortable enough to do so and I do consider my friends on here my real friends. They are very supportive. Now I am not one to start discussions all the time about my personal life or things going on that are negative but I do know that if I need to there are people here that listen and are genuine with their responses.

I have definitely used mylott in a way to open up to others when something is really bothering me. Sometimes when something is bothering me and I don't want to tell my mom or my daughter, because I don't want to bother them, I come to mylott and tell them what I am feeling and I get some sypmpathy, some help and some advice that I can't get here at home because I don't want to talk about it.

Hello ajk111, I started here 3 years back. I found a place where I had loads of fun and what I really enjoyed is, I made some good friends. When I was troubled I used to post a discussion and when I am happy I do the same. There were responses flooded and earned many friends. Had issues sorted out, had my doubt cleared and had fun. But I was taken away from here for atleast a year and now recently I returned here again. Felt the same pace, connected with same good old friends, some new discussions still and much more. It becomes a part of life now. As you said, I logged into here as an user and logged out as a friend to someone daily. Nice topic to remember my old days... Cheers.... Have a great day always....

Yes, mylot has helped me in a way. When I'm frustrated and stressed, instead of banging my head on the wall I open up mylot instead to share to other mylotters and most really have shared great advices.

Well, while when you submit a discussion here on Mylot, everyone has the right to respond, possibly with the policy. I personally, even when asked a question in the section "Question and Answers", more or less I have always found people ready to help me in the situation. Probably the reference that you do, putting in Mylot another level compared to other forum is simply for the fact that it pays you to post discussions or simply responding. Got something to argue about?
