AMC's The Walking Dead returned last Sunday and a new episode is on tonight. If you had to pick one leader of your zombie nation, post-apocalyptic camp and team, would you follow Rick or Shane?
Both individuals have been faced with very difficult decisions and have exhibited leadership qualities. Rick, being portrayed as the everyman protagonist, has mostly leaned on ethics and morals in his decision making and at times has seemed to be willing to sacrifice and endanger everyone to save one person. Shane has been the anti-hero and portrayed to be rash in his decision making and concerned with survival at its core. Shane has already displayed the ability to sacrifice another human being for a greater good but has been disruptive and abrasive in the face of group decisions.
Who would you want leading your camp?

Rick has generally been one of the more stable characters whereas Shane is getting more and more erratic. He's started to show his true colors as only looking out for himself. I think once Rick came back Shane saw that he had lost Lori and had no chance to win her back ..... as long as Rick was alive. I think knowing that has made him more bitter.

I expect Shane to stay as a bad guy. I expect Dale to kill him to prevent Shane from killing Rick. I think Rick is still trying to think of Shane as his old friend without totally realizing how much Shane has changed.

With Shane trying to convince Lori that she loves him instead of Dale and also that the baby is his, I think it increases the likelihood that Shane will try to kill Rick which again makes me think that Dale or perhaps Glenn or even Lori might kill Shane. This will probably continue to build and be left as a cliff hanger at the end ot this season.

I like it. There's a reason that they keep revisiting the tense dynamic between the two and I don't think it's to simply display a yin-yang relationship of personality. Possible season finale material? Maybe. But Shane is a popular and polarizing character. I think killing him off too quickly would be a mistake.
