I turned off my email notifications from my list of friends? I'm overwhelmed with daily notifications and all I end up doing is deleting them. I can check the main myLot site and see what everyone is chatting about. Your thoughts, please. Thanks.

hi carolbee I was just thinking the same thing, I have so many notifications its overflowing my email folder. I am going to
have to take that option too.,I doubt anyone can see you have done
that as they would not know.So many times I have used the tabs friends started then my folder is backed up for ages so
am going to take thaoption myself.

We wouldn't know if you turned our notifiers off or not... Go ahead and turn them off. I sometimes go to the site also and choose what I want discussions I want to reply to. I sometimes delete everything from my email when I get too many of them.

That's the great thing about the options on Mylot. There are so many ways to keep track of things. Everyone's situation, computer, etc. are different. Do what you think is best.

Now this is ironic. I did not get any email notifications about this discussion. Very unusual. Initially I thought this was a lame discussion once I started it because other members wouldn't know if I turned off the notications from their discussions. It's like what was I thinking! Thanks for responding.

Hi carolbee,
I really don't think anyone would mind..they actually wouldn't even know. I use to have the same problem when I first started on myLot and eventually had to turn off most of them.
I only have about 5 right now that I get but I end up coming here to check out what's going on anyway.

You made me laugh! Do you know how many times lately I've used the word "duh" to my daughters or friends because of something "duh" I said or did, haha!
Don't feel bad, you'll probably get more responses to this discussion than you care to have, lol!

You just did the right thing my friend. If you are having trouble about the notifications and you don't like to receive notifications on your email you can adjust your settings it's just fine you are not violating a myLot rule or something . And besides no one from your friends list would know it because it's your profile that you are editing..

Why would you offend anyone anyway? I mean, if there's an option, of course you can choose it. And you still read the main page of MyLot anyway. So you still can be up to date to the posts and discussions.

It would not offend me if you would not be offended if I do not respond to all you posts.
I check the post as it is on the notifier and then decide if I will respond or not.

You are not the only person to turn off your email alerts for here, as I have as well.I was getting loads of emails each and every day, there is no way that I would be able to keep up with all the people that are on here in responding to their new discussions either, so there was no point in keeping them turned on.I just respond to discussions, no matter who the people are, as I think that is a lot easier.

I don't think turning off email notifications would be offensive. I have mine on and only have a handful of friends, on here since my return to the mylot world and that is mainly because my life has been so busy I can not lot no more as much as I would like. I will be honest my mylot notifs go to my gmail account and sometimes when I log on to check my mail I will have dozens of them, and what do I do with them. Delete them without even opening them.
When I get the time to join in on mylot and see what is going on here, I always check discussions my friends start first. So even though I never read the emails I still try to get active into my friends post right off if they are of interest to me and then I go to my interest and then onto no responses. So even though mine isn't turned off, I delete them anyway and I do not mean it to be offensive or anything in that nature it is, simply because I do not have the time.
I do not think turning them off would be offensive at all.

It's O.K because I have the same problem too many e mails everyday. So, I just pick and choose a few notifications to turn on and get the daily My Lot digest and that's enough because I have surveys that come every day too that I have to do. So, It's O.K.

You did the right thing because if you are feeling overwhelmed by these notifications then you can certainly turn them off. This is why the turn off option is there for. You don't need to worry about offending anyone as they wouldn't know you turned off your notifications...

No, I wouldn't be offended at all. I know what it's like to be inundated with tons of email. It's hard to find the time to read them all. Gotta do what you gotta do girl.

I used to only turn on the notifications of people who regularly responded to my discussions so I could at least return the favor. Now I keep all of the notifications on, although I totally admit the people who post 20 discussions a day? I delete a lot of those without reading them.

I don't think we are friends, but I have turned off some of my notifications cause I have over 8,000 emails right now and I can guarantee that half of them are notifications from mylot and mostly that a friend has started a new discussion. I actually though, when I was trying to turn off notifications, could not find the one to turn off friends notifications.
You can go to the 'friends started' tab above anyway, which is what I do, to look at friends started discussions, so I don't see why anyone would be offended. I hardly go to my email anyway. At least the one where the mylott notifications are.

My email notifications are weird. I won't have any for a long time and then am overwhelmed with them. Guess it depends on the day. I like reading the daily digest myLot emails each day. Some of those discussions are very good. Thanks for responding.

I used to receive lots of email notifications from mylot before but i got tired of deleting them one by one and i could not seem figure out how to make all those notification stop. I lately figured out that to make it stop we whould go to our friends list change the notification one by one so that we won't receive notifications from a specific member anymore. Its quite tiring and time consuming doing it one by one but i also got tired of checking my email so i didn't mind anymore if i am still receiving notifications nowadays.

I won't be offended. I leave mine on because I can read the posts right from my email previews and decide which discussions I will respond to. And I confess that I cheat a bit. I have some friends who make numerous posts a day, only some of which interest me. I can easily catch up with the things that interest me without leaving my in box. Then I can see what I want to respond to. I rarely check into my home page, which is why I often don't see the popular posts which have landed there or the discussions which may have answered when I was thinking of posting on. I guess I really should check in to my home page more often. I just find more than enough to respond to in my email in box.
