Do you think women with makeup on are more reliable?

Last year, a research report revealed that people see women with makeup on as more reliable and skilled. Not any kind of makeup though. The dramatic one was rejected. And the natural look (nothing on) was behind also. Only the professional look was highly favored.
How do you feel about it? Those who are against cosmetics are panicking over the findings.

I also have watched a program on TV that seeks to find the effect of make up for girls. The crew set up two girls to apply for a job, and on their job interview, one had to wear enough make up and the other without. The one with make up was the one that got hired.

That is interesting. I wish I could watch the tv show you are talking about. I really want to see this kind of research live. It is more fun that way. The one done last year was by Harvard and Boston universities. More than 200 people were shown the pictures of the same 25 women with makeup on in different ways and barefaced. They all went for that professional look. While some made their choices in seconds, others were given more than enough time. The result turned out to be what I mentioned.

Ofcourse make up by itself does not have any direct relationship to being reliable or otherwise. Of course women who indulge in make ups re modern in thoughts and a bit forward in outlook.

It seems that makeup just gives the impression of being reliable. Of course, the ultimate truth comes out only after we totally get friendly with all. But I guess the makeup just makes us look well groomed.

Well, I haven't seen the report. But, speaking for myself, I don't think women with make up are more reliable. But, I'm biased, because I consider myself pretty reliable and I'm a woman who almost never wears make up. I don't have any special issues with it, just don't like the bother. I'm not panicking, though. If something as insignificant as that really matters to people, I can put on a little lipstick, until they get to know me and then see my reliability for themselves. And, then I can go back to not wearing any.

It's so weird how many prejudices we have without even realizing it. I think the world would be a better place if we could take appearances out of the equation. I guess I see that make up reflects personality, but I don't think it says anything about reliability. In fact, I see women who wear the "professional" make up as high maintenance and potentially difficult to deal with, whereas the dramatic make up shows me a more creative minded and confident person. So I would have probably voted for the dramatic look if they'd asked me.

I quite don't remember the exact stuff mentioned about the dramatic look. But yes, they were talking about how people felt that the dramatic one made the ladies look more dominating. They also used the concept of confidence. Like you said, women with dramatic makeup look more sure of themselves. Perhaps, people found that intimidating. Not sure, but it did come second.

Not all women with makeup or cosmetics in their faces are RELIABLE. I think this publicity are more on endorsing certain cosmetic products behind..they are giving the worst perception that women with no make-up are not reliable? That is not humanely fair. This shows discrimination between reliability of women with make-up and women with no make-up. The basis of their findings are not even accurate at all. They are covered only with surveys..
Wearing makeup is used only in form of expression of that person desires to be seeing at by other person. It is usually noted that a person with make-up was hired because she shows more expression on her personality development than the other women without make up that seems to be dull for the interviewer or the interviewer seek a woman with make-up to release a bright personality but does not mean that this person is that reliable,For there are also other women who wore make-up that are not reliable in work. It is a standard procedure for other companies to have their staffs in a make-up form appearances. This companies think that it will give a good credit, ambiance in their company confidence and the staffs as well as the patronizers of their products in the market.
Of course those who are anti-cosmetics are panicking with this news. What does the people expect from this? worst effect that all women even plain housewives will wear make-up even doing household chores just for others to see even their family that they are reliable? Does not make any good sense at all. If you are the husband? would you like your wife seeing all day through to wear make-up just to show she is reliable one? It will be a funny things to imagine..
Besides, also there are men wearing make-ups too.. does it mean they are reliable too? not at all in general. Some prefer to use make-up just to cover their dullness and to give a good impression to other people about them. In fact, when wearing a make-up shows that the person is mature, unlike when no make-up, the most you will seen in effect is the simplicity and innocence impressions.
I think wearing make-ups must be of personal choices not driven too much pressure in the community or discrimination. Make-ups are their for reinventing purposes to gain additional confidence of that person and must not be "mandatory or must at all time". For not all people are rich to buy this stuffs, instead they will prioritize first the needs of their family rather for themselves.

Makeup definitely has nothing to do with reliability. Those who wear it know it. However, people view it as a sign of reliability probably because it talks of the fact the woman wearing it is in happy and calm moon. When we are sad we don't wear makeup after all. And being sad also means that we aren't interested in things around us. So it is taken as a sign that we are being unreliable for others. I am not sure what those people were thinking. But yes, professional look makes a face look cleaner and "arranged". This can also be the reason why people liked it more.
