Filipinos in Singapore

Philippines

As i said in my earlier discussion, i have filed an employment application in Singapore. Life is definitely going to change if i do accept the offer. Apart from the salaries and the expected expenses, my major concern is the behaviour of filipinos in SG. Is crab mentality still kicking among Filipinos there? I have willed for a lower position that the one i am currently having right now. My fear is that the filipino supervisor would keep an eagle eye on my performance and stomp on me if ever i do make a mistake. I am afraid that there might be a competition between her and me. I dont think i could thrive in a crab haven... Can i have your inputs on this?

Crab mentality is an inherent trait of Filipinos and you can find them anywhere you may be even if you pursue local employment. Why should that thought refrain you from pursuing your dream of employment in Singapore? Just do your job well and avoid those whom you think will try to bring you down. Avoid the intrigues at work and devote your time at fulfilling your responsibilities. There are many Filipinos who have gained success in Singapore and are earning rather well from their employment. Limit the negative thoughts and dwell on the positive impact that the job will bring to you and the family. Good luck.

That country is good for professionals because they earn enough for good living than those being a domestic servants which is salaried small not enough to make a good living with their family. This is the reason why most of the domestic servant in that country being abuse and also being a mistress of their male employer

Hello Gracee, You have to expect the unexpected, Filipinos have adopted there for years for being in that country, so you might not expect them to be the kind of filipinos that you normally encounter in our country. but if that is teh case, you have to show what you've got and prove yourself otherwise..

A pleasant day Graceekwenx, Indeed it is painful to hear that our fellow Filipinos are sometimes the reasons why we cannot move on progressively. That is due to their crab mentality. Thus, due to this reason, people who works hard for their future cannot go on progressively as some fellow Filipinos are not doing things the proper way.

I am sure that you can improve your work atmosphere in a short period of time. Whatever you do, do it confidently and correctly. As you are not mentioned the nature of work, it's practically difficult to explain. However, please make sure that if you have any issues or problems with your work, get the advise from others instead of making more and more errors. This kind of performances are everywhere not only in your case. If there is 2 employees outside the country with different levels, such kind of behavour is natural and try to be cooperative with your supervisor. For them also, they need to perform well for their existence. So, be honest and provide a dedicated job. You will get appreciated and if not, there may be something wrong with your counter part. Thank-s
