Hi mylotters. Today I recieved a text message from an unknown person. NASA reports that in the next 10 months temperature will be 4 degrees hotter than the previous years. Because of this, the Himalayas glaciers are going to melt at a rapid rate. It threatens to submerge islands and other land masses and eventually might cause water shortage in these areas. This is very alarming. I am worried but I think I should my share too. I guess baby steps to save this world can really help so I'd like to post this here so everyone can do their share too.
1. Plant more trees
2. Dont' waste water
3. Use cloth bags and burn plastics.
I think each country are obliged to inform their citizens about the importance of this. Discussing about in some morning news segment is not enough. People sometimes don't take this segments seriously. I think the governments all over the world should really stress that we are in a critical condition now and we need to all so something about it. Like eliminate plastics so no one can use it anymore. I know that's hard especially I don't have a car so carrying a load of paper bags is just sooo incovenient. Then encourage everyone to plant trees in open areas or put it in the curriculum. Planting Trees Subject , I know... I know.... ridiculous but there will come a time in the future that this could become serious stuff and will not sound like a "joke". Each country needs a motivator (President etc) to really make the people realize this is serious stuff. This will buy us time before the earth finally says GOODBYE..

It's scary that our planet is changing.Honestly,it's getting worse. Here in my country, summer started early.Gosh!Anyway,I'm also dong my share in saving the planet.I'd recycle.Um,plastics should not be burned.Burning plastics can be harmful.Using Oxodegradable plastics can help.I also intend to shift to inverter types of refs & aircons.

Our city prohibits the use of plastic bags for dry goods. The city mayor encourages people to bring their own bags when going to the grocery. In case you don't have your own bag, then a paper bag is used. Some cities use biodegradable plastic bags.

Yes, I think it should start from major places like supermarkets. If they stop giving out plastic bags then I guess it'd be easier to eliminate plastics "kat_princess" you have a very responsible mayor. I hope leaders like him will start doing the same. Thanks for the response you both.. :)

There is nothing to worry about. The earth that God made it that nothing of the sort will happen, God knew what he was doing, but humans don't, I'm not going to let myself get scared with those news because they don't know what they are talking about, what we are sure about is there will a lot of wars.

It is sad that the Himalayas glaciers will melt at a rapid rate. It is awful that the temperature is four degrees hotter than in previous years. This changing weather pattern is worrying. I was watching a program about Madagascar the other day and they have sadly lost a lot of trees. This has been dangerous for its wildlife.
I have shopping bags made from jute which I use to carry my shopping. My car takes unleaded petrol and I only use it two to three times a week. I walk my kids to school pushing my disabled son's wheelchair. I have a shower with a water saving device on it. I eat a vegan diet and only buy green options in the way of toiletries. I have bought some hardy tropical looking trees and planted them in my garden.
I know a shop that only has paper bags and they are sending a strong green message. I wish other shops did this too. This is great for the environment.

the question is, will the earth really say good by, im not saying that we dont have to help our planet since we have had a impact on it. however maybe the glaciers mealting is part of the earths cycle? every ten thousand years (or more) the earth swapps between a ice age or a heatwave. at the moment scientists belkive were on the way out of a ice age heading to the heatwave. so whats to say that this is mand produced ? and that we can actually stop it ?
personally yes i think we should write our wrongs but at the same time i think were still part of nature, and this is just one of its many cycles?

First of all, thank you for the response. Yes, I heard about that cycle. But If I remember it correctly that change in cycle that happened in some thousands or hundreds years ago (not sure) actually made some living creatures in this world extinct. So this could mean as we go through this cycle same thing might also happen. So I guess in that case this is really alarming. And that hole in the atmosphere right now is not just some cycle we are going through that eventually will fall into place again, but it is continuously becoming huge and that may cause a more alarming situation for us earthlings.
