Thoughts about aliens

The image of aliens is the one drawn from the sci-fi movies that we watch. Moviemakers projected aliens as unusual creatures from the outside world possessing advanced intelligence and often with malintent in mind to take over the earth. But what caused them to do so? I don't have an idea as to what was the earliest documented or witnessed case of alien sightings. Did our ancestors also had encounters with aliens? But one thing is certain that we are not alone in this huge Universe and that points to the fact that other species which we call aliens do exist somewhere. Whether they are more advanced than us or have the ability to travel to visit us is still unknown. If all alien sightings and encounters are to be believed coupled to the idea that they are highly advanced then the Earth seems to be a hot tourist destination in the universe.
