I am writing a book...

Today I was assaulted by a female member of my ex-fiancee's family after suffering 10 years of narcissistic / sociopathic abuse at the hands of my ex-fiancee. I am in a desperate situation and trying to leave the relationship. I have started writing a book about these experiences which will leave you shocked by the truth. I am raising funds at IndieGogo and anyone who pre-orders gets a Limited Edition copy of the book plus their name published in the credits. I have no idea if I'll manage to raise any money at all but it takes just one or two people to get the ball rolling. The funds will be used to publish the book and get me out of this awful situation.

It costs nothing to publish, by the way. Just use one of the POD services. That'll save you some money.

I have been having a look at this, seems pretty good. But what sort of prices would customers be paying per book plus shipping costs?

Anything. I've seen books on Kindle at 99c and books at $20 - there's something to be said for every price point, really. If you're talking about POD services (paperback) rather than electronic publishing, it's another matter: there are more costs so you have to set the price at $3 or more or something. It depends on the number of pages, format, etc.

Publishing a book can cost a lot. Did you look at lulu.com and blurb.com? These are two of better known POD (print on demand) publishers. Didn't use their services, but I read some good comments from the people which did use them. Anyway, I think, that writing a book is the important part. That's a great way to found a relief and a way to move on in life, and close the chapters that belong to the past. So, go ahead, and write it, and later on, you'll find a way to share it with the world, either as print or in some electronic form. Good luck ;-)
