Is it apropriate for a manager to ride a bus or a train??

U know, My neighbors was in London to meet with one og the vice president of global corporate world in the tube station at he corner of Edgard road. Every day he boarded the train though absurdly full, but their life well organized and always on time. He's the one that inspired my neighbors. But there are other example, my friend think that was appropriate. So, what is your opinion??
