In my own personal opinion I would say that this is a fiction. Crying is also what we men do... Well, I cannot say for all men but some men I know and even me do cry sometimes, specially when there are things that makes me cry. One example of that when I am angry and I cannot bring out to some people around since I cannot raise my hand specially to my love ones... Crying gives me relief. I think Crying does not degrade a person manliness... :D

I think its alright to cry, regardless of man or woman. Boys are often taught at a young age to be strong and never cry, but there is no shame in a person having feelings. That is how I feel about it.

Welcome to mylot, i don't know what you mean by real-man, i have seen men crying when sad/depresses or while in pain, but they don't get emotional easily like ladies.
Thanks for this discussion.
Best of luck.
Happy posting, cheers.

Real men don't cry is fiction. Real men are aware of there feelings and how it affects them and those around them. It is so aweful that so many people think that that saying is true. It leads to so many men thinking that they shouldn't cry or express their emotions. Which in the end leads to relationship problems, etc. It's not that a man has to cry about every little thing but he is aware of his emotions. And isn't afraid to shed a tear when he's experiencing hard times.

Real men are those who can endure the storm. that is why no matter what comes their way they endure through! Have you ever seen where a soldier complain or cry because of a situation? Certainly no!!! that is the spirit of a real man.

What is actually your definition of "real men"? It depends to some people.
Men are also human beings. It's impossible not tell that they don't have emotions. They do. Maybe they don't really show that they are grieving in the public, they would rather do it in private and show the world that they are strong but at the back of their mind, they are also hurting inside.

Being a human we all go through good and bad times and laughing or crying joy and sorrow are a part of human journey. So man or woman is not the criteria here. So for me it is natural feeling for men to cry. Some men express it, some hide it, but they are feelings and if you don't express then i guess they are not real humans.

Fiction. Anyone overwhelmed with emotion, whether it be male, female, or in-between, would be prone to crying. For example, before my boyfriend and I got together, he used to be so sensitive about me hanging out with other guys and one time when he saw me with one of his best friends, he cried as he was getting into his car. This guy's one of the toughest people I know and yet he still cries.
Crying is normal; any "man" who says he doesn't cry is lying to you.
Hope I helped. :D

I know it is fiction. I have seen my husband cry a few times and I think it is cute. I like seeing that side to someone to know they are real people too, not a robot or something. I don't like when people they are too "good" to cry.
I think everyone should have a sensitive side, and with men I think that is sexy. =)
Real men DO cry!

i do not believe the to be a man in the so called real sense you are not allowed to shed your tears. I also believe that every living creature has the right to cry and cry their heart out whenever they feel like this does not make any sort of discrimination of not being bold enough or strong enough.
Shedding tears is one sort of crying but people do cry from inside too which we can hardly see or realize. I know many people in my life whom i believe cries uot loud in their heart but they never let people know that because they are afraid to be quoted as "weak" or "emotional" or they might find it useless to show their pain to others who might not give them value.
but yes its true that women tend to cry shedding their tears most of time and men cry inside their heart. but they do cry !!

Fiction certainly. Of course that doesn't mean that most men don't follow that rule anyway.
I consider myself a very rational person and I still try not to cry, no matter the situation.
I agree with the people above me, it's healthy to cry, you just don't have to over do it.
Besides, maybe it's acceptable for women to cry all the time about anything, though it's kind of annoying. You may be a girl but you need to learn a little self control as well.

I mean, I wouldn't want a cry baby as a boyfriend, but I think it's normal for guys to cry. Probably healthy. So many guys are so determined to come off as 'macho' so much that they might deny themselves of having feelings or admitting it to themselves. I think it's normal for anyone upset enough to cry.

All people cry and i dont think there is such a thing as Real men i believe if you are a man than you are a man. I understand that there are some guys that act femine becasue they might be gay but they will cry just as a straight man would cry as well.
Crying is normal and everyone does it not matter the situation at all.

I think it as a fiction because crying is not depend on genders. It mainly rely on their bearable or tolerable capacity.
Men prefer crying lonely and they don't like to be watched by others while crying.
Men and women are born with the same heart and crying mainly depends on the way they brought up.

everyone need to shed a tear just to lubricate the eyeballs when touching the eyelids. and its a way to clean your eyes off dirts. that's why we get morning glories everytime after waking up because that's the best time the eyes gets relaxed and washed by the small amount of tears.
