Umbrellas are quite popular whenever its rainy season but nowadays people even use it even when it is a sunny day. I think it is usually women who are the ones using umbrella even when its a sunny day because i still haven seen any guys using one on a warm day. I myself won't even bother using one even when it is really hot outside.
How about you?
Do you also bother using the umbrella on a sunny day?

I have not got an umbrella nor do I want one. I think they are a nuisance not only to the person holding it but to the people around. I like it hot and dry and I can use a hat and if it is raining I can get wet it won't kill me or I can wear raincoat or better still a raincape

No, I would not use an umbrella on a sunny day. I think it is important to allow the sun to get to my face as it provides vitamin D. There are far too many scare stories that I think are getting people to keep the sun away from their skin altogether and this way they are starving themselves of a natural function of the sun. Of course it is not good to burn, but we need sun as it has been proved that there is a lack of vitamin D with people that is causing a world-wide health problem. _Derek

Derek, boyo, you don't get enough sun where you are to be bothering about it too much (and in any case, how can you carry an umbrella and play rugby at the same time? and one really needs to compare the risk of scalding from the contents of the little and big saucepans); but even where you are, there is a small risk. But for others in this discussion it's a different story.

The sun rays gives off so much heat especially during around 10AM~3PM. It is even painful in our area. The only solution we have is to bring an umbrella to protect our skin. This thing is for everybody and is not gender related.

Yes,I do.
I use umbrella when going outside during sunny day.
It's too hot and it seems the heat is burning me, that is why I use umbrella to protect from the intense heat of sunny day.
I know guys don't use or bring umbrella when it is sunny or hot.
But they use it when it is rainy days.

Yes, they have no qualms when it's raining.
My boyfriend doesn't like to use umbrella during sunny day because he feels girly or vain, but I always scold him. I don't think it's right to let little embarrassment get in the way of being protective of our health.

In my country we have umbrellas, which you use to keep the rain off, and sunshades, which you use to keep the sun off. The only big difference between them is that a sunshade will not work as an umbrella, because it lets the water through. The umbrella, if dark in colour, may not be quite as effective at keeping the heat of the sun off as a bespoke sunshade, but who cares? I suppose people are seen as eccentric if they carry a dark sunshade, though I must admit that if you are trying to read under the sunshade, it makes sense to let some visible light through. It must be possible to design a product that will work effectively as either, but where's the incentive? Will people spend 50% more on a combined umbrella/sunshade?

Hii cyclopz...
Yeah, girls are afraid of the ultraviolet that can burn our skin. Though I am a girl I don't really like using umbrella in a sunny day, even when it is rainy because I always forget to bring my umbrella even I forget that I have one I have my sunscreen or sunblock as my invisible umbrella

In the Philippines,it is common as it is very hot here so as to help protect us from the sun's harmful rays because we all know that one shouldn't stay too long under the sun even if/she used sun protection. It's not common with guys though. It's summertime in here so it is expected that people most likely women use colorful umbrellas with UV protection.

The only umbrella we use on a sunny day is the one that goes over our patio table. Though I wish we had a much larger umbrella because the table is the only one with any sort of shade in our back yard.

I don`t use an umbrella on a sunny day cause some sun is good. The vitamin D that comes from the sun helps loose weight, fight depression, build immune system and even lower your risk of getting cancer.
On the other hand...too much exposure can cause melanoma the deadliest type of skin cancer.

I prefer a hat to ward of the sun and I also use cooling glasses. Carrying an umbrella is cumbersome I feel. I normally avoid the sun and remain indoors but when I have to then I use a hat and cooling glasses. Sun they say is bad for the eyes too.

Well I always have an umbrella at hand for a sunny day. Even if the sun is shining, you never really know when it is going to rain. There are times where the sun can be bright and shining right in the morning but it can be dismal and rainy right in the evening. That is just something to keep in mind as we head outside for a long day outside where the weather can really bounce back and forth a couple of times.
Also with bright sunlight, there are some that use an umbrella to keep it out. When the sun comes up high into the sky, the sunlight can really be blinding. Therefore it might be a bit easier on the eyes to find some mechanism to keep the sun right out of their eyes. It did seem like a bit of a bother to do it for that reason, but there are many reasons why one might use an umbrella right in the sunlight in the middle of the day.

Yes,I always bring my umbrella and use it everyday.Especially in our country,It's really hot and it's penetrating my skin. And if I will not use an umbrella to protect my skin,I might get a skin cancer or it will burn my skin.I pity for my skin because it's starting to get dull and I'm not blessed to have a beautiful skin. That is why I really have to make an effort to take care of it before it's too late.Well, kind of too late at some point but now,I'm trying to make it up and be more responsible.

When I was in the city before I don't usually bring umbrellas unless it rains. There so many buildings in the city I used it as my shade while walking. But now I move in the province, here there no buildings to become my shades that's why I've learn to bring umbrella. The heat of the sunlight here now is very direct to the skin and it's very painful I feel like burning. Maybe this what they call the thinning of the ozone layer.

Yes I use it when is sunny and hot...but there is a difference an umbrella is for rainy days...a parasol is an umbrella[more colorful] for sunny days...which now a days does not make any difference any way because
the sun shines and it rains at the same time! so I just carry an umbrella.

A century ago, parasols(lace umbrellas to shade from the sun) were common place. If they sold them nowadays,I would happily get one. As it is, periodically, I'll use an umbrella on sunny days as I burn easily and don't want to get skin cancer.

i am using the umbrella when it is sunny day and yes i can observe that mostly it is the women who uses the umbrella, i haven't seen a man using it a lot, only when it is raining that i can see men use it. i think it is important to use the umbrella even on a sunny day because the heat of the sun these days are really different...it's like i can burn your skin..also it causes premature aging and being too exposed to these can have bad effects on our us and our skin..some people don't care just walking under the heat of the sun..before i used to not care but these days i really have to and i bother using it on a sunny day..
