Do you feel older after your birthday?

I'm turning 18 in June but I'm probably not going to feel any different or change my opinions about things. I will, though, enjoy the privileges of being 18. There are so many things that say "18 and older" and it has annoyed me for a while...I will finally get a better job. What do you think?

I can understand how you may feel. Turning 18 can be a huge stepping stone. You're also leaving your childhood behind. It's not always easy. But there can be good things about turning 18. Try and focus on the good things about turning 18. I'm going to be 24 in April, and I do find that there are a lot of good things about being an adult. Sure, there are some things I miss from my childhood, but there are a lot of things that I enjoy about being an adult.

heh...I don't really plan on leaving my childhood behind (not yet)...I might even still watch "Regular Show" and pull pranks....I don't think I'm becoming that much of an adult so soon.

I am 35 years old, but I still remember the time when I turned 18. It is an important year in my country because it is the year when we able to do several things that we couldn't do when we were 17. We are able to take our driving licence, vote, do what we want without our parents' permission etc. When you are 17 you are only able to take jobs for young people, there are few jobs to choose from and the salary is much lower than the salary for people who are 18 or older. When you are 18 it is much, much easier to find a good job, and I think that was one of the biggest changes that I experienced that I turned 18. I enjoyed the privileges that I got when I turned 18, but aside from that I didn't really feel different or older.

I really do think that it is a more gradual change, where a birthday is just another day passing through the wind. Of course, a year while a lot can happen in a year, does not seem like that much in the grand scheme of things. But yet over time, my age really does tend to be something where it becomes more of an issue and more of a sticking point within periods of a few years, rather than just years. And obviously as I get older, it is going to be more of one. Still from year to year, my birthday passes. I go "yay" and I pretty much do move on with a lot of my life. Where I continue to really deal with pretty much everything that life tends to bring. I don't feel a year old. In three years to five years, I obviously do feel a bit different and as age goes on beyond where I am not, that aging of a past time is really not going to feel all that bad. The aging that can happen in a year will only progress as one gets older. Of course when you pass certain milestones in life, with ages having more meaning on certian birthdays.

When I was in my 20's, I don't feel that. But when I stepped on the 30's bracket, I felt that every time I finished with my birthday. But I know, it's only in the mind. It's something more of psychological.

Turning 18 is a big thing, a wonderful time, putting you childhood behind you but it is just one day more after the day before, if you just take one day at a time you won't feel older not matter what birthday it is.

Dear friend, if you are already beginning to feel old at age 18 years, what should I say then that in May I "go" for the 37? But I personally do not feel on the weight of all these years. One concern though, I must admit, that, having arrived at that age even without the prospect of a job! This is, I must admit I worry about "tomorrow" but when it comes also this year my birthday, I live in the usual way as the previous ones. Instill it is only, 1 more years!

Happy Birthday. 18??? You have so many years ahead of you. I don't. I am going to be 67 on St. Patrick's Day. I do not feel older after my birthday but I am older. I am actually a senior citizen but not yet considered elderly. I am doing well and having a wonderful time but I do not have years and years ahead of me. You do.
