It's been a month since my last visit to the Philippine Heart Center. My last visit was supposed to be my treatment date. I was diagnosed with Rheumatic Heart Disease. Only last April 2011 that I've learned about it. According to my first 2D echo it's severe. I'm just thankful, I've learned it only last year. I'm thankful because I already have 2 beautiful daughters ages 5 & 2. As soon as I've learned my case, my husband and I, went immediately to Philippine Heart Center since I knew I can entrust them my condition. Every now and then, regularly I've had my check-up and then last Sept. 2011, I underwent a 2D echo again. Accdg to their reading my case was possible for balloon catheterization (less complicated procedure since not open heart). I was happy about it. I don't want an open heart. To avail the procedure which cost me around 100K Php, we went to PCSO, called up friends, asked some help from politicians and there we raised the needed amount. I was scheduled then. But on the day of the schedule, after going through another 2D echo, they said my condition was for open heart surgery already. I was depressed. I heard the doctor who read my 2D echo last September was mistaken...What??? What do you think will I feel? I supposed to meet my cardio last Feb 14 but I decided not. My trust has gone away...
If you were in my case what will you do?

That is bad, at first they said you can be treated with Ballon Catheterization without open heart surgery last Sept., but now they said you need to go for a heart surgery, it is quite a huge careless mistake for a disease of this nature, he must be sleeping on the job or not taking his job seriously, he practically is playing around his patient's life with Russian roulette, i can understand it hurt so much with all the trust you put on that hospital but all they can tell you is they made a mistake few months later, i'ii not blame you for doubting your doctor after this error, after all only a freaking unprofessional heart specialist will behave in such an irresposible way, giving a false hope to his patient....I am speechless now! Sigh!

Yes, until now I'm quite in despair...I'm just thinking God has certain reason for this. He has definitely reason thus I'm just clinging unto him. Though I was really sad about what had happened I'm just hoping God will show me the reasons soon. I feel so tired more often but I don't have the thought of having an open heart surgery.
Please pray for me lampar...happy mylotting!

Is that a government hospital or private hospital? Obviously the doctor working in that hospital is very unprofessional and probably graduated from some medical university with third world standard, i will assume it is a locally produced doctor and specialist that can't even analyse the result of a test properly let alone can treat a patient with heart condition problem, it is quite common ailment among developing countries' hospital where doctor are mainly make up by sub-standard university graduates who can't really perform their tasks professionally in par with their peers from advance nations. It is a sad, but bad scenario for many hospital in some Asia country now.
