I am a pretty new Iris Johansen fan. The first books I read by her was "Fatal Tide" and then "Dark Summer". After that I started with the Eve Duncan series and "The Face of Deception". I have to say I am addicted to her books. My questions to you are:
1) Which Duncan series book is your favorite and why?
I am currently reading "Blood Game"...for me, my favorite so far was "Stalemate". That book was so action packed and it introduced the character of Luis Montalvo who is an illegal arms dealer in Columbia. I think the attraction between Eve and Montalvo is so strong that you start hoping they get together...
2) Which non-Duncan book is you favorite?
I am looking forward to see what you guys have to say.

Good discussion! Oh and better yet, great timing - I just finished a book by her - "Pandora's Daughter". I know that's not part of the Eve Duncan series, but I thought I would share that. That's the third book I've read by her and I wasn't as impressed by it as I was with the others. I didn't really like the "sci-fi" aspect of things (I've never really been a fan of that), although I do love crime dramas (especially ones with the personal lives of the characters in it involved, their love lives, their inner demons, etc). But otherwise this book was OKAY.
The first one I read out of the Eve Duncan series was "Face of Deception". I liked it, but I really hated Logan's pretentious-ness (not sure that's a word) and it disturbed me that they wound up together... . But otherwise it was gripping and had a good ending. I love the political conspiracy part too.
The next one I've read, the last one, is "The Killing Game" - I liked this one a lot better than the first and I'm glad I read it. I'm sort of glad things didn't work out with Logan secretly, although Joe seems to be somewhat of a psychopath if you ask me. Ha ha! Anyway, this one was super suspenseful and I thought for a moment we might figure out exactly where Bonnie was and what happened to her... But, it turns out NOT! . I will actually have to read more of the series to find out I'm sure.
I want to read them in order, but I don't actually KNOW the order of the series. Do you? I thought Face of Deception was first and Killing Game was second. What comes after that, if that is in fact the correct order?
Anyway, I will most definitely check out Iris's other books, as soon as I read all the ones I've rented from the library. (I've got about 8 more to read).
What other authors are you into?

good afternoon, maezee! so glad for your response. i also have "pandora's daughter" to read after i complete "blood game", "eight days to live", and "chasing the night" from the eve duncan series. i have the same feelings as you about sci-fi...but, the way johansen writes about it, makes it an interesting read. also a note~megan (the listener) from "pandora's daughter" also appears in "quicksand" and "blood game" (i know that just from reading the book cover).
i also feel the same about logan...he is self-absorbed and will do anything to get what he wants~he also reappears in some other books of the series. and quinn...he can be a little psychotic...and his character becomes a little more unstable with each story plot~lol.
the order of the series:
the face of deception
the killing game
the search
body of lies
blind alley
countdown
stalemate
quicksand
blood game
eight days to live
chasing the night
there is also "eve", "quinn", and "bonnie" which i believe completes the series.
other authors i love:
michael connelly (mickey haller/harry bosch series)
james patterson (alex cross series)
clive cussler (dirk pitt/ kurt austen series)
john sandford (lucas davenport~prey series)
john grisham
robert b. parker (jessie stone/spencer series)
nora roberts
stephen king
to name a few. i am always looking for new authors to start reading so how about you? who else do you read? also, are you familiar with www. goodreads.com? i love that website. thanks for the response!

Thanks for the tip! I am printing this out so I have it for reference. . I have not heard of that website but you bet I will check it out in a second here. Hehe. I love reading, especially these types of books. I'm always looking for new authors to read. I have read a couple of James Patterson books, most recent being "the Midnight Club" - and that was pretty good!!!! I've heard of the Alex Cross books (those are the "1st blah, 2nd Chance, 3rd whatever, 4th something" etc books right? I have seen those at thrift stores countless times! I should actually buy them one of these days!
Is Nora Roberts crime/mystery? Or is she romance? For some reason I was thinking she was a romance novelist. Which I have little to no interest in (romance).
I don't have a whole lot of variation in who I read. But you should check out Lisa Gardner. She has a "Quincy" series and it's to die for!!!! My favorite of the series is called "the Killing Hour". Tami Hoag is another really good one, although her books tend to err on the longer side. But I would suggest to you Lisa Gardner & Tami Hoag to check out for sure, if you like James Patterson & Iris Johansen.
If you think of any other good books or authors you've really enjoyed LET me know!!!

you're welcome! james patterson's alex cross books are "along came a spider", kiss the girls", "cat and mouse", etc...the first two were made in to movies where morgan freeman played alex cross. it is a great series and it follows along with suspense, mystery, murder...and the movies were awesome too! i myself, have not read the "midnight club" series yet.
nora roberts books have some romance but for the most part, she is mystery as well. she has some pretty good trilogies that i've read and have you wanting more. i didn't think i would like her either, but i was really suprised. she also has a lot of her books made in to movies as well (mostly on lifetime).
thanks for the new authors to check out. i have a few books by tami hoag that were given to me, but won't touch until i am done with my iris johansen phase (that may sound silly, but i read as many books as i can by an author before moving on to the next one).
same for you...if you read any other good books or discover new authors, please let me know. thank you ;)
