Alot of people just turn the phone on speaker and go ahead with whatever they are doing. I do this when i on hold. I had been in customer service for near thirty years before I took a early retirement. I was very used to using a headset. If I am making business calls I don't mind using one but for personal calls I will just hole the phone up to my ear. Not a problem.

I have a cordless phone which has the hands free speaker system that enables me to talk without holding the phone in my hands. This is very convenient for me as i am severely disabled and my hands don`t have the strength to take the phone to my ears.Yes, this means that others can hear but since i live alone there is nobody to hear me.So this is the best thing for me.I also use the loudspeaker system in my mobile phone which works the same as my cordless phone.Had i not been disabled i would most probably not have used the speaker.

Youless, same like you, i prefer not to make call using hand free. Because i don't want others to know what we are chatting about. Besides that, it is really disturbing and not relaxing to let others listen to your conversation. I will only use hand free when there is no one around. Sometimes, i also use hand free when the caller wants to talk with many members of my family. Have a nice weekend.

Every one can have their own personals. So i am preferring to talk privately not as openly.
And when my family members are calling, i can switch on to loudspeaker....

me too. I just use the button when I am trying to call someone. There is some research that the radiation from the phone is very terrible when you are trying to connect somebody on the phone. When the person is connected on line, I will turn off the button.

I like my privacy as well. My husband likes to be on speaker phone and hands free because he can hear it better. I do not talk on the phone much, though.
