My washing machine killed my favorite shirt

I put it on gentle cycle, but somehow, a big TEAR resulted between the under-arm and all the way across the front of my shirt. It's a HUGE tear, beyond repair I do believe. This makes me incredibly sad because it was my favorite black 'layering' shirt. Sure, I only got it for about $5 at the thrift store, but not the point!!! I am so saddened by this. It looks as though it got caught on the agitator and tore that way. Either way it sucks!
Has your (evil) washing machine ever ripped or damaged anything of yours?

Many times it happens that something that which is not expected happens and the only thing that comes to mind is why and how did such a thing happen?
A similar kind of experience, as to what happened while using the washing machine also happened with me while I was ironing my clothes and of course along with the same set of consequences.

yes, but i suppose it was my own fault. i do not search pockets and everyone knows this in my family and tries to keep that in mind, however, one day when i was washing a jean load, hubby left a pen in his pocket and well, you can guess the rest! i was not impressed!
