I observed now everyone interested to work on Computer. Lots of people are spending their time on net or on Computer. I think Computer screen effects our eyes and if you are using computer more hours means spects are necessary. What you think you wear the spects while using Computer and still your eyes is okkk.

I started wearing specs even before computer came to India. It is true that specs make it convenient to browse the net. I am not sure whether computer use for a longer time every day will result in one being compelled to use specs. I have heard about burning sensation in eyes.

hi fanta yes my glasses are necessary for me to use the computer and monitor and just to walk across the room even, I have had to
wear glasses since I was nine and had the measles. The measles affected my eyes and I had to wear them as I am nearsighted. I
now have worn bifocals for the past thirty or fourty years. So
for me specs are necessary for all kinds of seeing. lol lol

I came across a link which suggests that glaucoma - eye disease may be linked to excessive usage of computer.

It is always better to use take rest every twenty minutes or thirty minutes. computer software programmers cannot do that. In fact my son whenever he visits India for ten days or so -- believe me -- will not check even emails. He wants to be away from computer totally.

You are right. Facing the computer for a long time is harmful for our eyes. However, I doubt whether wearing the spects will be good for our eyes anyway. It seems it is just a normal glasses and I don't think whether it can work or not. I just hope the situation will not be worse:) I don't wear them because I don't believe it. Since today most computer screens are LCD. So it is already better than before.
I love China

I need spects to work on a computer but also to read : past 40, soon or later any human lose "eagle eyes". In the past CRT screens were emitting a lot of radiations bad for health -- and eyes --, and some people were using screen protectors or glasses against them. Actually TFT screens are emitting very low radiations, and these protections are not necessary. But reading -- a book or on a screen -- during a long time fatigues the eyes, and they can lose focus. In this case, spects are not the best solution : like 3honor said, taking a break is better.

Ohhh yes CRT is danger but now LCD screen is good still I not wear the glass. Yes you are right if you are reading the books or notes on computer then you should use spects because our eyes feel stress.

I need glasses for everything!
To add to what the others have said, screen brightness even on a flat screen monitor is often set far too bright. This can tire your eyes very quickly.
Watching Flash video, on Youtube for example, often makes you increase the brightness involuntarily because the makers of flashplayer are too lazy to put the controls into it. You should avoid this trap.
Grey is good - white is for the laundry! Turn the brightness down a little and you will notice a great change in yourself!

hi fanta,
i guess there should be a shield on the monitor to lessen the impact of the rays from it - not specs. am saying this for those who can still see well.
but if you do are wearing specs because of some eye problems, then of course it too is a necessity.
have a nice day.

good day fantabulus,
indeed it is necessary to have spects while using the computer in order to protect our eyes. aside from that, this will also help the eye not to feel direct irritation that computer machine can brought. thus, these two reasons are needed to be consider while doing work in-front of a computer.

I think it's ok to not use any spectacles if your eyes are ok. I mean I wear glasses so even when I'm using the computer or watching tv i have to wear my glasses. Or else everything looks kinda blur-ish!
