I will be 31 this year, been married for 3 years, have a 3-year-old daughter, worked in the corporate world for 10 years, have had my own business working from home for more than a year, I've been in the US Army (deployed to Iraq), went to college (3 times),.....and much, much more. I feel like I could write a book about my life experiences, and perhaps things that I have done or been through could help others. Whats everyones' opinion?

Go for it ! From what you're saying it seems you have an interesting and exciting life. I'm sure people will find it interesting, some even motivating.
Not many people get to do a lot of interesting, important things in life.
I think that people like you should share their stories.
Good luck :)

You have everything that one needs for a good book to be written. I mean, first you have a rich and varied experience. Personal experience is what one could/must bank on for a good writing career. One could convert observed experience as stuff that makes books. But that must come later. It is said that everyone’s life would make a story if only you know how to tell it in a way that would make people want to read it. You decide the genre you want to write. Is it going to be fiction, autobiography, travelogue?

Hello, to answer your questions whether you have enough to write or not, I think you will know the answer when you start writing your piece. If you are lost, perhaps you could start with the reasons you want to write a book about your life. It will be a good outlet of your emotions. I would also want to write a book but writing about my life is a big no-no. I don't have anything exciting going on so I would not know what to write about myself other than I get up in the morning, go to work and then go home to sleep.

Do it! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. If people feel that they have something to gain from it...they will read it. It sounds as if you have much that you want and possibly...need?...to share.
I may be wrong but if this is the case, please write your book. I meet so many people that live great lives...and many do not know that these fascinating people breathed...and you can reach a level of immortality by documenting it.
I would truly encourage you to do it. All the best on this venture if you take it on, which I sincerely feel you should.

I think that all of us have such varied and unique experiences in life that others could learn a lot from them and find them very informative and fascinating. If you feel that you could put your life experience together in a book and others could benefit from it than you should definitely go ahead and start writing this book and see if a publisher is interested in publishing it...

I think you could write a memoir. Just start writing and see what happens! Sometimes I feel like the funny stories in my life, just really ridiculous stuff, could be part of a memoir or at least a short-stories type memoir. But I never put this thought into action. I would say, start writing! At the very least, if you cant' finish it, or if no publisher wants to write it, it would be a great accomplishment for yourself. I've always wanted to be able to say "I've written a book" - It's on my bucket list. . Good luck to you!

I've been planning to write a book myself, but things happen that somehow throw me off course. I still want to write a book and things still continue to happen in my life. So, how do I know if I'm ready to write and finish my long overdue book project?
Striking distance. I'll know if the distance from "here" to "there" is short enough for strike with a modest exertion of energy. This is how I plan to keep myself in the book publishing game--I'll scribble here and there until I'm finally within striking distance of my goal.

I think that in your case, it would be a great thing to write a book. There is a quote that goes something like this, "everyone has a story that will break your heart." I am sure you have plenty of those being in Iraq. I would do it and have fun.
I am writing a book as well on the bible. I have been getting some great suggestions from my myLot friends. People here will help you, and they want to. I have some great friends here. Some have even helped in a very stressful time.
Welcome to myLot and I hope that you get many friends, and continue posting. Have a great day..:)

I certainly think you have enough to write a book! You could write a book just about your business working from home. I have a couple of friends that just put a book together. After getting it put together they were able to submit it to amazon where they printed the book for them. May be something to consider and you could then take that "finished" book to publishers to see if it generates interest. I know the cost was quite reasonable. Good luck, I hope you write your book
