This profession I think is common in United States now and some people said that they did make decent money with this job. On this Job you will be walking dogs of different in a park and you will dispose their poop after. Well i have no plans on entering this profession. I watch a documentary on Tv, showing the story of a widowed mom who was able to make her kids finish college just by walking dogs(what an inspiration). so we cant really underestimate this profession. I wont exchange my job for this Job though. Here is my question, Do you think you can survive this job? all you have to do is walk dogs on the leash, dispose their excrement then return them to their owners? In your household, are you the one who walks your pet dog? Do you have the patience to walk multiple dogs?

Hi CaptAlbertWhiskers! We do not have dog walkers in our country but I do find the job interesting because I like dogs. Of course, I wouldn't exchange my present job to become a dog walker but if times get tough I think I wouldn't mind taking on the job. I am not sure though if I can manage walking multiple dogs at a time since I haven't tried that before. In our household, my husbunny walks the dog because I am busy most of the time. He too wouldn't mind that job.

I think if our economy will improve then dog walking industry might exist in out country. I also think a litter box industry for cat owners will happen if our economy will improve.

Sure why not. At least this is much decent compared to other jobs. Or maybe because I am a dog lover that is why I find it easy. I have dogs at home. There came a time that I feed and took care 14 dogs at home. Yes 14, 10 adults and 4 puppies. But, I gave away some because they quarrel and I can't bear to see wounded ones. Right now, we have 4 dogs at home.

do you walk your 4 dogs at the same time or 1 at a time? There are professional of walkers who can walk multiple dogs but there are also ones who does it one at a time.I think having rich but busy dog loving neighbors would make this job easy. But yeah in a way its a bit gross.

I'm the dog walker in my house and we have two labs and a Newfoundland. They are no problem and well behaved and wait till we are away in the countryside before they poo. I don't pick it up because nature has had millions of years of development to re-cycle poos of all animals and add nutriants to the trees and plants. If they have a mistake and do it on the pavement then I pick it up with a plastic bag. The irony is that by putting the poo in a plastic bag it stops nature getting at the poo for a hundred years while the plastic degrades! Is that better? Sometimes we look after friends dogs and then I can have five to walk. They are all good company and love to run around as a 'pack'. Luckily they are all well trained and love food so it is easy to get them all back on the lead with a show of nibbles. Walking other peoples dogs? Well it really depends on the dogs. If you had scrappy, yappy dogs then the pleasure of a walk would quickly go. And dealing with poo? Well just wait till you have babies of your own then you will get used to handling very smelly and squidgy poos! haha!

It seemed like you dont live in a boring concrete city, It seemed like you live in a good old countryside. I think picking up dogs poo is only for the concrete cities. But yeah if you walk dogs in the fields and or in the woods, you will just live it there for mother nature to recycle. Its not goign to work in concrete cities though. I am not a dad yet, so that must be the reason why I have poo Phobia. I do walk my dogs and pick up their poo, though I dont see it as a way of living. since dog walkers deals with more poo than a regular dog owner who picks up the poo of his own dog. I think its a good industry cos it provides more jobs for people needing some income.

I think you can make a lot of money doing this. I konw I called a few places and they wanted a ton of money to walk my dogs. I swap dog watching with my neighbor and we are both happy. I think working as a dog worker would be fun and no 2 days would be the same.

I think some dog walkers makes more money than me, and I work in an office. i think the ones who makes a lot of money are the ones who lives in a neighborhood with many dog owners. I think rich people pays the most. from what I know to be one, a person must have a license.

My daughter used to walk two dogs in our neighborhood for money. You don't get paid much, and it's usually by someone who don't have time for their dogs. The guy turned out to be a jerk and never paid her for two weeks.Of course she quit, but he still owes her. I doubt he'll pay her. As for myself depending on what breed it is ,I don't mind walking more than one,if the dogs are behaved. I remember about two years ago I walked two labradors at the same time. They were pullers. One would stop to go to the bathroom, and the other would suddenly drag us down the street. It was kind of funny. Labradors are known as being a puller.

oh i love dogs and i walk 3 of my dogs together and where i live it's not common. most people would stare at me while walking them and i think aside from having 3 dogs with me they're wondering how i managed to walk a german shepard, labrador and a pitbull together without being pulled. well practice makes perfect and if doing the same task for money then why not. BUT i might end up persuading the dog owners to take responsibility in giving their pet the time, patience and exercise they signed up for when they brought home their pet dog. just be a responsible pet owner.

so their past as wolves have something to do with the pulling during walking? so when they pull us they were trying to prove they were the leader of the pack. Interesting..

well most of the techniques i use now is from the show Dog Whisperer and it works out pretty good for us. first i make sure i use the right collar and leash on walks, with my dogs i use a chain choker and a short leash. i place the choker as high as the back of their ears, have the leash loose but short so i can easily pull it to call their attention. this may sound cruel but it's not. they listen more to your command with just a little pull on the leash. the most important ingredient is to stay calm. i'm sorry to hear about your dog, labs are really lovable, and they are very playful so what i do is really stay calm and correct the dog even before or on the exact instant they make a mistake/do something you didn't ask them to do. they pick up very quickly who is the pack leader and just own it. our GS challenge me every time she gets a chance and i try to be patient with her as well.

Last year when I was baby sitting the dog next door I used to take him for a walk aroung to the park near my place and we have a pet food shop we have to pass and sometimes I would buy him treats for when we got home and the lady there offered me a job of walking dogs but to be honest I don't like picking up the poopys so I wouldn't want to do too much of it...

I think picking up poopies is the important aspect of the job cos its a sign of respect to people who will walk on the park.
