Are peoples freedoms actually being taken from them?

Get this.
So it looks like things are starting to happen in 2012. I haven't watched the news (fox) in about 6 years and the first thing I see when I watch it today is that people are being fined and trapped by the fed. gov't and then the state gov't (!!!) for things that aren't illegal. They are told that they need to fix some random problem or they will be jailed or fined 10's of 1000's of dollars a day? Sounds to me like 1) People need to grow some balls and throw another tea party if they are going to be oppressed (what happened to the land of the free?), and 2) we are all gonna be slaves soon, or already are. What do people think? I for one would fight this to the death.

I think that there are a lot of people who are unable to have the same amount of freedom than they'd had in the past, because of the economy. In the past, people might have been able to work for a few decades and then had the rest of their life to enjoy themselves, but now we have to work until we're at least 68 which is just ridiculous as it doesn't give us enough time to enjoy our life when we don't have all that much left of it. We have to spend so much of our lives working these days that I don't hold all that much hope for the future if I am being honest with you.

Wow yeah this is good to keep in mind. What happened to the American Dream (or for those on here who aren't US citizens, a good life)? I know people who say they love there jobs, and always will, but how can they love their jobs if they never are rewarded as much as they want for their efforts? Not enough time to spend with family, doings things you want, making more money? No one wants to work hard or easy, and make no money. That's what it is, no money, when everything is being taken from the average person.

What freedoms are you talking about, jaslupton117? I am curious as to what these people did to get such outrageous fines and all.

Oh stuff was on the news. One guy was told he had to remove logs from a creek so water didnt build up. He got rid of the logs, and then was fined because he wasn't legally allowed to. Idk I dont remember the exact details.

I don't know where you live but it seems the gov't over here promotes the same thing. Actually, they favor the rich over the poor. It has always been this way since long ago. It's no doubt that people who have money have power, and those who have less stick to those who have more. It just makes me sick knowing it to be this way.

Were we ever truly completely free ever? That is really a question that I was thinking about the other day and really, the majority will always be somewhat squashed by a powerful minority all of the time. It is just that we are noticing it a lot more. Where the powerful minority is far less subtle about it and more people are noticing it.
More people are noticing it but will any of them do anything? Sadly, it does not really seem to be the case. There are many people who will be frustrated, but rather just willing to not upset the apple cart and thus accept the status quo. Plus also in the back of my mind, I do wonder if we have peaked as an entire human race in general and it is all downhill from right now. I will say this right now, if any workers in any corporation in the world did the job that the United States government were doing, they would be long since fired.
