Maybe you aren't noticing the change in law, but in Georgia, some cities already pass the law to allow grocery stores or supermarket to sell alcohol during Sunday. That might help raise the revenue on city taxes I guess, to reduce the burden on homeowners paying high taxes to construct new road, or pay the firefighters, etc...... The sales might increase overtime if people noticed that they can purchase alcohol on Sunday. I don't know whether it is a good or bad thing, but it certainly help increase the sales on alcohol, and sales taxes for the government accordingly.
