I work homebased and I usually work from late night until through the morning. I can choose my own work schedule. I recently changed my schedule and I realized It was a big mistake. I was not able to show up at 4am in the morning once. I had promised I wouldn't do it anymore but this morning it happened. It was my fault cause I didn't sleep I drank 1 litre of beer and got sober. I slept at around 3 and I had set my alarm clock to be able to sleep for 30 minutes but of course I woke up late. When I got up it was already 8am in the morning. I feel terrible now, cause I promised my team leader that I will not do it again but I did again. I don't know what to do now, cause I feel ashamed to work later cause I might get scolded. But I know I have to face it since it was my fault. I am this kind of person when I do something wrong I feel so bad that I can't focus until I am finally sure it's over. I might be suspended for 3 days for doing this. 3 days without salary. Well, it's good cause it could also become a short vacation but I would always associate it with this mistake.
How about you guys, how do you feel when you know you did something wrong not once but did it again? Do you feel ashamed? How do you face it?

You should never drink the night before work, because as you know it can have a very bad effect on you the next morning which would mean that you're not able to do your job to the best of your ability. Your boss might be understanding if you explain the situation and tell him what you're going to do about it. If you do get suspended, then it is important that you learn from the situation and remember that you should not allow yourself to get into this situation again. You're in charge of your own life, never forget that.

Yeah I know. I am resposible for everything that I do. Well, lesson learned and I'll move on and change for the better. Guess if I think I'll be in a compromising situation then I won't do it anymore. I should resist the temptations. But of course I also not be too hard on myself because I know that I am not perfect this is one proof that I am human. LOL Thanks for the advice I appreciate it. Have a great day!

Yes it is something most of us do but not many of us feel the way you do about it, I think it shows what a good person you are, you have convictions and thats good.

Thanks! I have always been like this eversince. I feel bad about a lot of things. I take things especially wrong doings personally and seriously. I know I should relax more. It's almost time to work now, I'm afraid Ill be getting a message from my team leader but I'm gonna face it. Wheeeww! Situations like these teaches me a lot of lesson and helps me become better. Thanks you guys!

Its good that you have homebased work. Whenever I absent myself from work. I do feel bad because i think of not having money for that day. But it depends on the reason why I am absent. Being absent for a reason is okay the first time but doing it again the second time is not an accident anymore. Yes you might get scolded but probably just try to make up for that particular mistake.

Hi clouds
You need to get the book "Excuses for Dummies" and learn some really good excuses that even the sharpest boss will believe!! Never blame yourself, it is always someone or something that kept you from getting to work on time. I usually go for the real tear jerker type excuses and they always work. Good luck..

I used to joke about this with some of my friends, having a book for excuses, and I didn't really know there is one that really existed. Cool! I think I'm going to check this one out. like what girl_thinking said, we never know when we might actually need one of them excuses.

Be a better person out of those mistakes. As for me, waking up early in the morning is really a challenge. But whenever I'm still in the state of being sleepy, I will always tell myself to wake up because I have work to do, I have to earn this much because I have to pay/buy this. Find what motivates you and doing the right thing will just follow. I resigned from the previous company I was connected with because I reported late quite sometimes. I resigned because I assessed myself on the reasons why I was incurring those tardiness, was it because I no longer love my job or what. After the evaluation, I decided to resign and find another job. Right now, I no longer incur tardiness.

I am happy to know that you love the job that you are doing right now. I love my job too. I guess I was just not adjusting very well with the new work schedule right now and that is why I am like this. Now, I am planning on how I can adjust with the new schedule. I think finding such thing that will motivate me will help. Yes, I need to pay a lot of bills and buy some necessary stuff so with this I need to be more disciplined from now on. Good time management and reserving my energy will also help. Thank you for the advice. Have a great day!

It's natural to feel bad about a mistake especially if done for the second time or more. What would be immature would be to be proud of it, right? I guess this will really serve as a lesson for you and hopefully you'll get things working right next time. Having a job and working by it's rules demands a great sense of responsibility, I know the feeling of being scolded over a mistake especially if done more than once. It's something I get scared of facing but will have to just the same.

I know that you feel bad because you did the same mistake twice. As what the English proverb says "Fool me once, Shame on me. Fool me twice, Shame on you " Since you admitted that your at fault, then stood up. Instead of worrying what might happen, think of the ways on how you can resolve it.
I had been in a situation wherein, I was so guilty of something that I done. I pray that I'll be courageous enough to face the consequences of what I had done. I was ready for the worst consequences but things didn't go my way. The thing that I was expecting to happen didn't happen. It was just ignored by my Team Leader.

Yeah.. I hope it will be over. A few minutes from now I have to work and I am already expecting a word from my team leader. Id probably be insulted or something but I have to face it. This is really nerve wracking for me. Wheeewww!

I also feel bad whenever I do something I promised I would not do anymore. Just like in work, I promised not be late or absent again but I continuously do it. It is hard to get to work the next day after you are absent because you never know what your boss or your colleagues will think and say. But think positive, they're not gonna kill you or anything. Worst they can do is fire you which is not a problem at all because there are lots of jobs out there! But before going too far with your thoughts, try to change your bad habits first. One step at a time. One day, you will soon realize that you are not being late or absent from work anymore
Best to start with listing down all the things you want to change in yourself and figure out a way how to reverse them

hey it is quite embarrassing for me if i did any mistake again and again.but i don't repeat my mistake because i learns from every mistakes i do.and i also don't like this kind of people who repeat same mistake again and again.it means that you are not concentrated about your work and you don't take your work seriously.yeah if did it then surly i felt ashamed in big way.because there is no place of excuse then.
