Hi friends, if you are a user of modern technology device on daily basic, do you really care much about using a new invention that harness its energy from Green energy/reneweable source to power its usage instead of from same old non-reneweable source like fossile fuel that can has adverse impact on our environment, If you do, then what sort of new device or gadget you like to see in the market soon, and under what type of condition you think you will ditch your old device or gadget and go for the new or just an improvise one that is run by green energy.
I am just curious with all these talks about impending global warming adverse effect on global scale, how many people really care enough to change their old habit and behavior for the sake of a greener world for the next generation of people. Every personal opinion is welcome here. Thank!

In my view, most people in the world are willing to change their old habits in order to preserve the environment of earth if they could pay no cost or just a little. For instance, a person is more likely to buy a energy saving lamp if it costs him the same as a normal lamp. But the truth is that a energy saving lamp usually costs people more money than a normal one. If the price difference is too big, I'm afraid most people will abandon their effort to preserve the environment. In this case, the government had better spend money subsidizing the manufacturers of energy saving lamps. With the increase of sales, the costs will gradually decrease.

Yes, the price tag of a new invention that either powered by green energy or not usually cost several time higher than the old one, the company usually have to factor in the research and development cost into the price for the new product and also the smaller customer base during initial product lauch date, i assume over certain period of time after the new invention is on the market, and more consumers begin to pick up the product, then price can slowly back down from its high point when the manufacturer can produce it in large quantity and derive benefit through economic of scale production and refinement. It will be nice if any new invention only cost about the same with its old counterpart, but in the real world, it seldom work in this way unless the company receive big government subsidy in the production of the new invention, and guarantee reasonable return on new capital.

Last year we fitted a new boiler which uses the condensing heat exchanger and light weight boiler. It still uses gas but much less which has the effect of using less gas which also saves money. I would like a boiler that does not use gas and uses no other fossil fuel for heating, that way would be best for our planet.
At the moment combined electricity and gas at home costs £594 / year.

My friend , a new boiler that doesn't burn gas or any fossil fuel may never get invented in this decade, or may be it will not be called 'boiler' anymore by its inventor if it is powered by green energy. lol!!
Anyway , i believe using natural gas to provide heat is not that bad compare to using oil or coal as far as polluting our environment is concerned. I am hopeful any new heat creation device for the houses can be cost effective and won't need us to break our saving account just to install or pay the monthly fuel. May be one day new method to harness the amount of heat from our inner earth crust can be economically done to make providing home warming temperature possible when the fuel or gas prices keep moving higher, then i think many people will like to go for a change later. Now i think it is still cheaper to use fossil fuel than green energy for most people.

There are chemicals that when mixed produce heat something on that line could be a possibility but of-coarse it would be done on a home made basis and would not involve a large utility organisation. The problem here would be separating the chemicals afterwards and probably the hazards of such chemicals.

I am sure thre is always this possibility existed, like using chemical to produce electron, then use it electrically for heating purposes. Until inventor come out with the proper way to handle those chemical, it is still not very practical yet for the time being with present day technology.
