What is the Use of Referral Link in Non Earning Forum???

guys I Saw many forum for getting referral purpose and they also have their referral links. like EMS(Earn Money Space), EMS have their referral link but I don't understand what is their uses. Because EMS is not a money earning site. then... my question is what is the use of their referral link uses? Like EMS.
