We all know that award shows have been losing ratings and the Oscars are not exception, the fact that the Kodak Theatre may loose it's name because of Kodak declaring bankruptcy is another mess, then there was the whole mess with the changing of the host, Eddie Murphy stepping out to be replaced at the last minute by Billy Crystal. After all this I will probably watch, well it is tradition, so do you watch the Academy Awards?

I plan to watch at least some of it. I am going to have my very own Oscar party. I have just returned from my supermarket with wonderful foods. Of course, I do live right next door to my organic supermarket. I work evenings and weekends. When I do not have to work, I watch programs like The Oscars and Grammys. Was it a bad years for movies? I can not recall. I think that there have been many good movies but I have not seen most because I never go to the movie theaters. I have digital cable with HBO and I am comfortable waiting to see a movie two or three years after it comes out. Eventually most of the movies nominated will show on HBO. And guess what. When they do, they will only get two or three stars in the ratings. It does seem that they just do not make the great movies of years ago.

I also used to make it into a party a few years back, but it seems to not appeal to people as much, the fact that people are always very busy. It is interesting how they seem to loose ratings so quickly after the Oscar race. Though there are a lot of movies that are classics that were never even nominated for the Oscars, so who knows.

I watched the Oscars. However I played on my computer while listening and sort of watching. I thought that for the most part, the show was pretty dull. Did you watch it and what are your thoughts? Did your favorites win?

I print out the list of nominees and I mark down the winners. It is always a great night. There is Always one person or two I root for. This year I Knew , knew Chris and Octavia were going to win! So Even with Billy, Who I do prefer over Eddie, it was a good show. The Oscars isn't for everyone.

I was hoping Glenn would win but Merle was in the way.

The fact that there was such a competition for the supporting Actress award made it exciting, I was also hopping Viola Davis would win, but Meryl Streep is always brilliant. I also thought it was a fun show.

I used to watch it growing up because I thought it was so glamorous. I was around sixteen when it started to lose its sheen in my eyes. I started to realize how cold and shallow so many celebs are and I began to see the Oscars as a way for them to preen. Plus, so many good movies are ignored in favor of movies who make a "social statement" or are considered artsy. Although I haven't watched them in years, I actually plan on watching them tonight. I'm not sure why. I am kind of bored, but there are actually a couple of nominees I'd actually like to see win. Like Melissa McCarthy or Octavia Spencer. They are in the same category and are the frontrunners for their category. I'd like it if either one wins. And I really want George Clooney to lose. lol

She was standing like that because she's a cocky woman. She was doing that all night when she posed for pictures. It makes me like Jennifer Aniston more each day. I don't like George Clooney because when told once about an actor who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, said he deserved it because the actor in question was the member of the NRA, National Rifle Association. There is no excuse for that. I have members of my family with dementia, and his ignorance and stupidity astounds me in that matter.

I agree that the glamour seems to be gone, though they are fighting to get it back. The only slightly odd behaviour was Angeline Jolie and the way she stood with the dress - missed the reason for doing that if anyone mentioned it. Well if you saw the show, Octavia Spencer won and well deserved it was. George Clooney lost, why didn't you want him to win? I did think that Jean Dujardin would probably win, his is the performance of the year winning nearly all the awards thus far.

I am not a fan of any Award shows, but I like to watch when I have the time and when I find it interesting enough. I do hope I can find time to watch and find it interesting enough for me.

I hope you enjoyed what you saw of it. It was a reasonably good show this year.

I haven't decided yet whether to watch; the problem is everything else is reruns. 2011 was a bad year for movies even considering the recession which supposedly was better and traditionally during bad times movies do better. I think it was a bad year at the box office mostly because there just weren't many good movies. This means all the hoopla about the Oscars is over mostly poor movies. I know I will miss at least the start because I will be watching a rerun of The Big Bang Theory during the first 30 minutes.

That is actually funny, when watching a rerun is more interesting then watching a new show. Well, if you did watch I hope you enjoyed it.

I am watching it live right now. I just like watching some of those great actor/actress winning and ofcourse, their red carpet hot looks.

What did you think of the show? The red carpet is a great part of the show, seeing the pre-Awards jitters and the guest all dressed up it is fun to watch.

I loved watching some styles but I was kind of embarrassed especially by Angelina showing too much leg and holding her waist during presentation. I had thought that she had overgrown such type gestures.

I think they are. I dont like celebrities these days. THeya re all so phoney and selfish and arrogant and the list goes on. But I think the whole thing is loosing what it is supposed to be all about..starting with the wardrobes. I mean, come on...those women can't think they look really great in most of those hideious ugly gowns they wear! I watched this sunday only since my daughter was here and she wanted to see it, and I think Sandra Bullock was the only one that look beautiful. THe others had such ugly dresses and hair styles...I went and did something else..it was just stupid. Plus...they dont' show what the people do...I watched the pre-part of it, and not the awards...and the only thing I have heard about the awards is that Christopher Plummer finally won one and then Angelina Jolie's leg issue. Wasn't that the most dispicable thing ever!!!! Maybe at least put on some nylons to have a nicely colored and shaped leg, but with bare leg sticking out like that...I don't know what they hoopla was..it was ugly and just made her look sluttie..and that is all I have heard about the entire awards ceremony. So, yeah, I think the show is loosing it's zing.
