I hate alarm clocks!

If there's one thing that always ruins my mornings, it's definitely the alarm clock. However, apart from the usual hate I feel when it sets off, I hate it for another reason. To be honest, it's not the alarm clock's fault but I usually get mad at it whenever I wake up a little bit earlier than the time the alarm should set off. I think that I've wasted time when I wake up too early. I mean 15 minutes of sleep is still something. It could have still been two or three wonderful dreams.
You probably find it weird, me hatin' on an alarm clock that works as it should but maybe it's just my way of throwing the blame at something else for waking up so early. I find myself saying, "my alarm clock is slow and it should've set off exactly when I got up." I know it's my body clock, but the alarm clock should know better to get in synch with it!

It's not weird actually. It's just a bit of anger transference. You're unloading your hate on the alarm clock. Though I don't understand why, people do seem to do this quite a bit. I mean, blaming other things for something they themselves have caused. Why not turn your alarm clock off. I mean, doesn't set it to alarm. So when you wake up either too early or too late, you wouldn't have to blame the alarm clock :)

Uhm, I don't think it would help because I have roommates. So I would probably blame one of them for letting me stay up too late at night if I wake up late, or blame someone for their involuntary move if I wake up too early... Hehehe... I am never to blame.

i used to use alarm clocks in the morning during weekdays because i don't to be late in the school. During weekdays, i don't use it because it is just ok to wake up late on that days. If you don't want to use alarm clocks, just remove it in your room or don't set the time too early to alarm. :)

Hahaha... Like I said, I don't mind if it wakes me up at the right time. The problem is not setting it up too early. I'm not a fan of snooze so as soon as the alarm sets off, I'm up. What I don't like is when I beat the alarm and wake up earlier than the time it is supposed to set off.

Boy, it's been years since I have had to set alarms on alarm clock to wake up so early. Still, I know the feeling. I even find it funny at times when I usually wake up just exactly a minute or seconds before he alarm goes off. I guess it's body clock getting used to it at that time. I don't really hate it though, I just find it bothersome, I mean the waking early up part.

Doesn't it help you wake in determined time? I guess if we don't want to be disturbed by an alarm clock, we had better turn it off. I have the alarm set to ring at 3 am. It woke me up but since I was still sleepy, I woke up just to turn it off and reight back to bed to sleep.

Yes, I understand, that's true. However, my post is about what I feel when I wake up before it alarms, not when it alarms. It's fine with me if the alarm clock sets off as it should and then it wakes me up, but when I wake up ahead of it, that's when I rant.

Ah yes, i know how that feels. It's really irritating but if we pay now and play later, we may sleep to our hearts content. Wouldn't it be great if we are successful and rich and we are to wake whenever we want to? I'm eager to live that life and i bet you do too. Well, have a great day and may you achieve someday your dream of waking up whenever you want without consequences. Happy mylotting.

Haha. I know that feeling, though I retired from using an actual alarm clock and I rely on my smartphone to wake me up. Worst moment for me waking up 5 minutes before alarm sounded, then disabling it, telling myself 5 more minutes of sleep, and next thing I know, I time traveled 60 minutes into the future where I'm late for an appointment or meeting, lol.

Hahaha... That's really, really very risky turning it off 5 minutes before it sets off (I'm really weirded out how the alarm turns on when it sets off... quite contradicting). That's what I usually fear would happen to me so it's either I wake up ahead of the time scheduled or I leave the alarm on.

For me,alarm clocks are important as we all know,it's nice to be in bed but we can't just do it all day so I need to have something to remind me to get up & start the day.Funny thing is that most of us have the alarm clock turned off whenever it rings then go back to sleep again. :))

Yes,i often use the alarm clocks to remind me to do something, everyday i have a lot of things to do,sometimes i was so busy that i forget do something important at the given time, just like yesterday, when i was busy working,my mobile phone rang, the teacher called me from the school,he asked me to get my little child back,it was already 11:50,but the school close at 11:30.I was frightened, why my alarm didn't work?because i turn it off in the morning to sleep five more minutes.

Hi,
If you get up without the alarm clock why blame it or or hate it? In my understanding you wake up before the alarm clock sets off. Now my point stop setting in alarm clock and and have that 15 minutes more dreams.

I don't hate my alarm clock. I set it so I can wake up on time and not to be late for something. It saves me a lot of time. But I hate someone else alarm clock. Back when I was staying at the hostel or renting a house at the town, my roommates tend to use alarm clock but they didn't wake up to the sound of it. It was annoying as the set it up earlier than my alarm clock and they let it snooze for a lot of times. What's the point of using it if you intend to be late anyway???

Hmmm... I think this could also be the reason why I wake up earlier than the time my alarm clock is set to alarm. I sleep with 5 other guys in our room, and maybe because my subconscious does not want to be a cause of a conundrum, I get up before my alarm clock sets off. Saves me the trouble of explaining to my roommates, huh.
With that said, I changed my mind. It's not my alarm clock's fault. It's my roommates. Hahahaha....

I am sure most students hates the clock once it rings.
but without alarm clock, we will surely miss a lot of things that we need to do.

Well, I think that is only one of the functions of an alarm clock; for you to hate it.
Anyway, its not the alarm clock's fault if it always disturbs to sleep. Blame the one who invented it! hahaha! Or better yet, blame the one who set the time of alarm on the alarm clock.. Hmm.. I wonder who that is...

Hahaha..I really don't mind if the alarm clock sets off and wakes me up at the time I had set it to alarm. What's annoying is that if I wake up before the alarm sets off, and I couldn't go back to sleep anymore. I feel like that I wasted a good amount of time I should've spent sleeping.

Yes alarm clocks are really, really obnoxious to say the very least. That is why I don't really use them. And more often then not, about ninety nine point nine percent of the time, I tend to really get up right on my own accord to say the very least. There has been an exception but thankfully my body is trained to get up at a certain time anyway.
I just really feel like the alarm clock is just an unnatural and awkward way to really pull myself right out of bed. I just feel more tired and more annoyed when I get woke up with an alarm clock. As opposed to pulling myself right out of bed in a more natural and organic way. I have no idea why this is, but really it is just something that happens. I am in better spirits when I get up on my own.

I could really relate to that feeling because i depend on my phone alarm clock in waking up every morning. I know i would really find it hard waking up without the help of the alarm clock because i would stay in bed for a long time if i feel like its still quite early and i could not see what time it is already.
Before when i was still back at home, i don't have to worry about snoozing my alarm clock because when i over sleep someone usually wakes me up before i become late from work. But now since in quite far away from home, i have to be very responsible to try my best to wake up on time and not oversleep because no one would be here to tell me that i would already be late for work if i don't get up.
I guess it is also a way for me to discipline myself in waking up in the morning and trying not to sleep too late in the evening so that i could get up early the next day.
I know its quite irritaing listening to the sound of the noisy alarm clock especially when you are still very sleepy. I myself also feel irritated when i hear loud sounds in the morning especially when im still sleepy whether it may be coming from the sound of the alarm clock of the sound made by other people around me.

As you have said, I think your hatred for alarm clock is just an excuse because you do not want to wake up. I love alarm clock as I do not know whether I can be able to wake up by my own.

hi almightybong,
i felt the same way before when i was still working in a job that starts 4am in the morning. i had to be up 3 in the morning to prepare and travel to work and the most important companion of my day was my twin bell alarm. it really made a loud noise so i felt "always forced" to wake up so i won't wake up the rest of the housemates. but then the longer time i had it, i got used to it's noise that i get up 10min later after it alarmed. so yeah it's annoying but what's the use of getting one, right?

For me it's not so much the alarm clock as it is the alarm's sound.
I've been using the same sound to wake up for a couple of years now and it works just fine.
The thing is, if I'm ever awake doing something and I happen to hear that play on the TV, someones phone, anywhere, I kind of freak out. It's like my brain tries to wake up again, even though I'm already up, I don't know how to describe it...
