My favorite photographic subject is music... concert photography. I have had the camera I have now (a "bridge" camera - more advanced than a point and shoot but without the detached lens that distinguishes an SLR - a GE X500) for about six months and have been able to use it at two concerts. I have gotten some really good shots that I've been really proud of and they just make me want to take more and more!! I don't know if I would ever want to do it professionally. I have friends who do. I love concerts (which is why I love photographing them) and I would hate to miss out on all the things I love about being at a show because I am busy "working." Although it would be terrific to be paid to do something I love so much.
What subject grabs your interest the most? Why? What do you love about it? Do you or, if someone would pay you to, would you photograph your subject professionally?

When I travel I always take lots of photos of buildings and beautiful places, and I have a big collection of photos from my trips to other European countries. In my own country I usually take pictures of abandoned buildings. My husband and I often drive around on our island, the neighbour islands or other parts of the country. When I see an abandoned building with broken windows, holes in the roof etc I take some pictures of the building, and later when I get back to my home I edit some of the photos and add people, objects or other things. I upload some of those pictures in my online gallery.

I love those types of photos - urban decay. We have a lot of that where I live but, perhaps because I live here and see it every day, I don't think it is as charming as in other places.

@ Porkospino;
I saw some of your digital images, and must say that I'm pretty impressed.
Do you use deviantart.com, by any chance. If you don't, take a look there. It's probably the biggest art related site on internet, and it's a great place to get respond to your art.

I love to take nature photos. From landscapes, to macro-photography of flowers, bugs, butterflies, spiders... I wish I had a time and money to go for "real" wildlife photography, but as the time goes by, I'm getting more and more fascinated with "small" wildlife, that lives next to us. Even in the cities, in parks and green areas, there is countless number of living creatures, insects, spiders and such. And observing their lives and interaction, could be really fascinating. It's the jungle out there, just that we don't really see it.

I need to put more work into my own macro-photography. I don't do it very often; in fact I don't think I have tried at all with this new camera.

I enjoy taking action shots at sporting events. I find it challenging to capture that shot that defins the action. I am posting one of my shots from a State Wrestling Tourn. I was able to capture the one wrestler in the act of a reverse on his opponent.

Concert photos are similar in that the subjects are always moving and changing, making it hard to get just the right shot. I can snap off hundreds of pictures at a show and end up with 20 or 30 that aren't blurred or where I caught the back of someone's head or someone with their arm over their face. :)

Sometimes, though, nature when it is at its worst can make for some very beautiful photography. Lightning storms, for example.
I'm sure your photos of your daughter are wonderful. Being passionate about a subject always seems to make the end result that much better.

Luckily I read further than your first sentence. I was actually going to ask you how to take photos of music...
I'm not that much of a photographer myself, I've always enjoyed a nice picture of a landscape, lakes, rivers. I guess that's all too common anyway, but I've lived my whole life in a place where you see whenever you step out of your house.
If I had to choose something different I'd say things that stand out. I don't care what it is as long as it's something you don't see everyday.

My kids. I absolutely love capturing every moment of their life on camera. They are my life, my inspiration. I have done all of their pictures myself and they are quite the little models.

like many, i too enjoy taking scenic nature photographs. i especially enjoy taking pictures that personally make me feel whoaaaa. if you know what i mean. unfortunately, i don't have the proper camera and neither do i travel, thus not giving me opportunites to see such beautiful scenes. well this is the life of a housewife hehe
thus, the next thing i enjoy taking pictures of is natural pictures of my kids. i love when it turns out really natural and it's not edited or they're not posing so awkwardly.
if someone would pay me to, of course i would but to do that, i'd have to be able to travel and get the scenes and natures i wanted as well. so i guess that's out of the question for me. but that would be one really cool dream.

i love taking pictures of foods, especially those comfort foods that i usually crave. Whenever i look at these pictures it instantly boost my energy. It also inspire my to try my talent in cooking and be more creative and colorful in using my ingredients so it may look pleasant and camera ready when it is cooked.

As I understand it "food photography" is actually a very difficult subject to master, making things look appetizing and showing all of the ingredients... For a while I was trying to keep a food blog, because I love to experiment in the kitchen. The goal was to write down my experiences, share the "recipes" I came up with, share whether or not they worked or if something needed to be adjusted, and provide a photo of the finished product. But some things, like soup, is hard to make look like anything people would WANT to eat. Kudos to you for excelling at it.

I have a Nikon D3000 and my favorite photographic subject s nature and wildlife. I didn't really get to do much wildlife photography where I live, but once I met my fiancee her family would go up to scotland once a year and wow some of the scenes up there are amazing.
