Last night I forgot to lock the door, I know this because in the morning when I will unlock the door flew open. I was shocked and afraid that there is a thief who entered the house, I check all the houses there are no missing items, and as I remember was I forgot to lock the door. What do you guys ever experienced this?

It happened to me too once or twice that I forgot to lock the door and only noticed it in the morning! Nobody came in the house, but since that I rather check twice if everything is closed... Not that there would be a big chance, but still, it's good that nothing happened.

HI!
It is better that thief does not know where exactly do you stay. Had he read this discussion, he would have made a plan.
You were lucky that nothing untoward happened. Yes, it happened with me also, when I forgot to lock the main door, however nothing serious happened.

At present time carelessness of this type is not excuseable. One must be careful about security of his house and himself/herself. I don't experience of this type. But it is my opinion that all locks and doors are only for honest person, for a thief these are meaning less. If your luck in with you no one can hurt you. But we must be careful. We must not invite improper person with our deeds.

Yes, I've forgotten to double lock the front door when I came in after my husband had already gone to bed and got told about it the next morning. Things are certainly different from when I was a kid. We lived out in the country and never even thought about locking a door. I don't think the locks even worked. The only lock that worked was on the gas tank that my father used to fuel his tractors. In the summer time, all windows and doors stood wide open for ventilation. There was no A/C. We didn't even have a fan because the REA had not reached our part of Oklahoma with their electric lines.

I've woke in the middle of the night, not sure whether I've locked the doors or not. Every door is checked and double-checked as well as closets, the garage, etc. It's a creepy feeling to think someone could just walk into your house.
What I miss though is the freedom to leave doors open when I was a child. We never worried about break ins, often leaving the wooden doors open so cool breezes could come through the screen doors.
What has happened to our country to have such a drastic change take place? I think it is the current thinking that everyone should have what their neighbors have, but refusing to work for it. The government has made taking it seem okay. Sad.

Well, we need to be careful as of these days because you know. There are many wicked people to do evil with their fellow. Need extra measure to avoid any untoward incident like thievery and others...
As far as I remember I didn't forget to lock the door. Before I go to sleep I'll check the door and window first to make sure they are closed enough...

I have not only ever forgotten to lock the door of my house when I went out, I've also ever forgotten to lock the car once I parked the car in a shopping mall. And once I even left the car key in the key hole of my car. Thankfully nothing happened. I thank God that nothing untoward happened.

There were once or two time we forgot to lock the gate but not the door. That is the first thing we will checked first before we go to sleep. Usually we assumed that the gate is locked with the door as well. Good to hear nothing bad happen to you. Don't forget to lock the door next time!(^^)

It seems we have the same experience after waking up in the morning I feel there is something not right. It was found out I have not locked the back door, so I bring a metal rod with me and lock the opened door, and check the rooms, undergrounds and ceiling. Well, good thing there is no one visits the house with an opened door.

When I lived out in the country, we felt pretty safe and knew almost everyone in our small town so we never locked our door. Until, one night when I was by myself, a stranger knocked on the door demanding that I let him in, he reached for the door knob so I quickly locked the door before he could open it. Then I watched him through the side window and he seemed drunk. I yelled at him, saying he had the wrong house and that he should get lost! Anyway, after that scary incident, I always locked my door especially if my husband was away. I live in a city now and in the city a person should always lock the door.

Yes, I have forgotten to lock my door on one or two occasions. It was only luck really that nobody broke in, because this was when I lived in the city. I came down in the morning and went to open it only to find it was open. It gave me a scare becaue several houses in the area that I lived in had been broken into - so much so that I got a burglar alarm fitted, so I can only assume that any potential burglars saw the alarm box up on the wall and decided that it was too risky to try and break into.. They would have set the alarma off if they had come in, but it would only take a short moment to run off with something valuable to me, much quicker than it would have taken me to come downstairs from my bedroom. It's not so bad for burglars where I am living now, but I always check and double check that everything is locked up before going to bed. It is the last thing I do and my wife goes around and checks after me too.. _Derek

ohh next time don't ever do that unless you have dogs to guard you and your house. Once it happened to me, I my store I forgot to lock the door and my room is only at back. I don't worry to much because of my dogs who are going crazy if they saw and hear someone they don't know. Be carefull next time.

I honestly know that there are as many nights when I go to bed that I forget to lock the front door as there are nights that I go to bed when I do remember to lock the door.
Luckily, we've never had anyone walk into our house and if they did, they would probably turn right around and walk out because of the fact that we keep the house so messy.
I'm glad to know that everything was okay at your house.

This can be very dangerous, you should be extra careful in regards of these things. I always check my doors twice before leaving the house or before going to sleep...You are lucky nothing bad happened. Just be extra careful in the future...

Thank God no!
As soon as I'm in my house, or outside the door, I turn around and lock the door.
I really don't want something like that happening to me. You were really lucky nothing actually happened. I'm sure you're going to be a lot more careful from now on.
