Never do things in a hurry

We have a say, that translated in to English says, ‘Never do work in a hurry, there is every chance of committing gross error’; this morning hubby left home for few days in connection with revision of his pension; before leaving he drafted a complaint to the electricity department about error in bills, printed it using our printer.
I sent that to the office through our servant, it was discovered that he put the consumer number wrong, hence it was not accepted. He should have been more cautious.
It is better not to do any work in a hurry, if it is urgent; we need to do but recheck.
Do you observe such rechecking?
Have you ever faced something similar?
Please respond, share and comment.
Kalyani
God bless you

I always try to take my time when taking care of important business because if I don't do that, then I am much more likely to make mistakes than I would be if I wasn't rushing to get something done.
I learned my lesson about this when I was in college because there were a lot of times that I would put off my work until the last minute, and then there would be stupid mistakes in the work that I turned in.

A month ago or so I did the same thing with one of my Bills and it ended up creating a lot of issues for sure. It would have been better if I could have noticed earlier I wrote one of the numbers down wrong, etc. but I was able to take care of the issue and everything worked out for the Best. Just made for a big hassle at first as well.

I have done things in a hurry and have had to re do them. Another way that I have heard that saying is this "If you do not have the time to do it right the first time, when will you have the time to do it over?'

hi there!
there's nothing to lose if you recheck anything before discharge. first drafts get the most errors and they get better as we check them more. a minute or two won't be that much of time if it is not a life that is at stake. i am not sure if you agree with me on that part but that's what i think. i usually do rechecking especially for the first time works i do. it saves much time if there is any revision needed and it cost a little time to make it perfect.

Hi kalyani, I agree with what you say, that any work done in a hurry can result in an error...as for what happened with professor,I can well imagine that he could have made the mistake since he was in a hurry to leave - By the way, probably you too could have checked the letter before handing it over to the servant right?...Mistakes always happen and by anyone/everyone more so when we are in a hurry and are not able to devote enough time..

Well said! I had been a victim of making things in a hurry. I had already learned my lesson. I'll make it sure that I'll take it slow. As they've said. Slowly but surely. I had been in this kind of situation, It was a countless situation, but what matters most I learned a lot from my mistakes!

This is really very true. Almost always when we rush something, we would commit a few mistakes, and sometimes these mistakes are big ones. It has happened to me a few times. The last one just recently. And it was just a simple attachment to an email I sent. I actually attached a wrong file and it almost got me a severe reprimand from my boss. I was so much in a hurry to send the email that I forgot to double check the file attached to it. We really should never assume that we've always done something right the first time. I mean, it's always prudent to double-check the things we do.
