I have going through all of my photographs and organizing them and I have found a lot of pictures that I've taken of a sunrise or sunset just with my kodak camera that I got as a christmas gift a few years ago. I am not even sure sometimes if i'm taking the pictures right or not but from what I have taken they are not bad at all. I Love the beach and i've taken a lot of those and pictures of family, friends, kids and such but I have found that the sunrise and sunset photos are the ones that I love taking whether it be at home, or on a vacation or something. I think that maybe if I can get a good camera that maybe those pitures might bring in some extra money maybe. If so, awesome! if not, oh well, i'll still take them i'll just have to not keep them all.

I like taking pictures too.I guess I consider myself a frustrated photographer. Sunrise and sunset is one of the best subject in taking pictures cause it really showcase the beauty of nature. It reminds us how beautiful life and world is.

I too love taking pictures of sunrise and sunset. Sunset more than the sunrise because they are easier to be awake for. But there is a whole art to it. Not everyone can just run out the beach and just starting shooting, yes most of their pictures will come out looking nice. But to get just the right colors you have to really know what you are doing. Nature is my favorite subject to photograph because it is god's canvas and man cannot recreate something so beautiful.

Photography is womderful, just scan all your photos and put them on to a CD or DVD and store them somewhere, you never know how you can use them in the future, even show them on Mylot when you can post photos.

I agree with you..I haven't taken all that many pictures of sunrises and sunsets, but just from looking at them they are BEAUTIFUL! It's so hard to capture them on camera though, at least on my Canon Powershot regular-old digital camera, the coloring never looks quite as intense as it does when it's in front of you, when you're looking out your window or sitting at a beach. Hey, you should have posted a picture that you've taken of a sunset in the discussion! That would have been cool to see. I used to love taking pictures - mostly nature pictures - water, scenery, buildings, whatever. But I've really fallen out of it. . It would be cool to make money off your pictures, but not if it means signing over the copyright to them (not owning them anymore), then I Don't think so (as I don't think anyone could pay us enough to do something like that!)

I would venture that even as they are, posting in the right area that would bring in money now, for instance you could post them to the photo section here, or at Triond.
And Tell a little story about it, such as what brought you to that location, or even a small fiction story.
Then you can buy a better camera with the income from that, if you would like to learn more about earning money from photos I would recommend looking up my friend chipesterkhan here on mylot.
Sincerely and With Appreciation.

What I have found in taking Sunset or Sunrise photos is you have under expose the picture to get the best color. Usually people use a higher end camera and use manual settings. I learned a trick to use a point and shoot Digital camera to get excellent results. It is easy with a digital camera because you see the result right away and can make adjustments
What I do is to take the camera and focus on a light spot above the sunset or sunrise and half depress the shutter locking in the exposure, then I move I center the camera on the setting sun and fully depress the shutter and take the picture. This should give you nice rich colors. The attached photo was one of several that I took while sitting in my car and hand holding the camera.

photography is one of my favorite hobbies, i love it, i too took a picture of the lakes near my home with an ordinary 35mm camera back in the 90's and i found it just the other day, it's beautiful, it looks like it's been photo shopped but it hasn't, i put it in my scanner and made it bigger, now i have it in a frame hanging on my wall, it's beautiful
