Fraternity means Brotherhood, for all we know its building a family of people with differences that creates equal right and responsibilities. With that being said, many are attracted to join since they will feel that they belong, but one must undergo initiation called HAZING. I've seen one movie with this kind of process which i feel is so excruciating, since when the hazing rites starts, there is no backing up, which sometimes leads to death..
So when they say Brotherhood, its equals to Family but why do we need to let someone suffer just to become part of this family? my fellow mylotters, what do you think?

a few months back, i encountered the same question when my sister experienced some hazing in the sorority she participated in. they were forced to kneel on rock salt and their knees got horribly wounded that until now, the scars are there. she could not wear any shorts/skirts anymore. it gave me the impression that those scars serve as a symbol of the embarrassment my sister took when she was still a neophyte. in short, i really go against hazing. it doesnt tighten bonds as others think it does. it makes one feel ashamed that once in their life, they allowed other people to hurt them when all they wanted was to be treated as one of them

Hazing is definitely out of the question. It shouldn't be part of any initiation, our body can only take so much. These tradition or practice should stop, as there were a lot of cases that lives were lost. the men in our family joined fraternities as well, I've seen my cousins purple legs and all we can do was worry. The goverment should have someone appointed to check each registered fraternity if they are in compliance with the law.

hazing is not really needed. In other fraternities, there are also another initiations being executed by other frats. However, i think this is now becoming as part of the brotherhood tradition of fraternities.
