How do you save from your pocket money or any other source of income?

To be very honest I never ever got anything such as "POCKET MONEY". When I got into college, as I had no such source of income, dad used to give me 30 bucks every day which included transport and lunch. In college I was never hungry or maybe I didn't use to eat because I wanted to save up the money. So at the end of the day I somehow managed to save 20 rupees. That counts upto 100 rupees at the end of the week and near about 500 at the end of the month. I used to be so happy!! How do you all save up?
