What do you think about Charlie Sheen leaving 2 and a half men?

In my opinion, Charlie was what made 2 and a half men funny. He had that sense of humour that appealed to everybody. In some ways, it was a reflection of his real life self that he portrayed when playing Charlie Harper. I think that the way they presented his funeral as 'funny' and humourous was insensitive for a character that had been running for so long. And getting pushed in front of a train? The whole storyline surrounding his death was terrible, and unbelievable. Ashton Kutcher (in my opinion!) ruined the show. Not his fault, but he ruined it by accepting the part.
What are your thoughts?

I never watched the show . I just thought the suits ruined it by firing Charlie. They Knew what type of person Charlie was and they Still hired him in the first place. So to be so shocked at his behavior rang untrue to me.So I loved Charlie's interview and rooted for him to get his money. As for the show , it is easy to ignore a show I never saw in the first place!

Thank you, I completely agree. They knew who he was and his reputation before they hired him, but it was still an amazing business decision. The only thing I disagree with on Charlie's side is that he didn't just resolve his differences with the producers and go back to earning $2,000,000 per episode of 2 and a half men made. On the other hand, he's rich as hell now so no need to keep earning :)

I don't think it was right for them to try to continue the show without him, I don't think it's necessarily Ashton Kutcher's fault (necessarily), but I don't think that he can replace Charlie Sheen. Not even to say that Charlie Sheen was all that great of an actor or had an amazing character, but the show was based around him - it's weird that they would replace the main character and assume that the show would go on as it did before. *shrugs*. I am not a huge Two & a half Men fan, actually not a fan at all, but I've watched it a few times. I haven't seen the newer ones with Ashton in them, but I haven't heard ANYTHING good about it so far.

Same here- I don't have satellite TV so I haven't seen any of the new episodes, but everything I hear about them is bad. A few of my friends have just stopped watching the show.

I never really watched it in first run but only in reruns and I always felt that the other members of the cast were what made the show and that Sheen was just riding on their abilities; after all he was really only playing a part that mimicked his real life. I watched the first few episodes after Sheen was replaced with Ashton Kucher who I don't care much for either just because of the other characters on the show, but I got really tired of them always having to show Aston nearly naked and quit watching.

I think to be fair that Ashton is making the best of a bad lot. The program will never, ever be the same without Charlie. Charlie was the show itself realistically, but I think Ashton is doing his best with it and it's still fairly funny.
Put it this way, if it was a new show, just out and that first episode he was in was the start of it, I'd love it. I just miss Charlie lol

I agree with your second point. It's just ruined by the overall feeling that he's 'replacing' Charlie. It's just not the same.
Thanks for your input.

Let me preface by saying I loathe the character that Charlie Sheen portrayed, however plain talk bad manners, Charlie Sheen carried that show. He possessed a certain "magic" that neither Ashton nor any of the other actors possess. The show isn't the same without him, and I do concur that it was indeed a reflection of his life, which is probably why he portrayed the character of Charlie Harper so well.
