Right now, go to any pet store and you'll be practically shocked at the sheer number of available items. Moreover, I know many people who buy pets that are imported from exotic locations. A person going for the simple job of selecting a pet will be overwhelmed with the large number of options. So, according to you guys, what would you prefer? Don't forget exotic pets, too!!

i would deffinetely say a tarantula, even though im arachnaphobic i think they are amazing little creatures and would be cool to have as a pet. im actually thinking of buying one soon too, and just face my fears and get over it.

Getting a tarantula is a fantastic way of getting over your fear juggal0. Despite not being afraid of snakes, lizards, or anything of the sort, I was terrified of spiders, even teeny house ones. My other half decided he wanted a tarantula and there was no stopping him. He got one, and then another, and another and so on. I now have 2 of my own. Best species to start off with it the Chile Rose if you ask me (Grammostola rosea), they're generally quite calm. Best way to treat any tarantula is with respect. Tarantulas may tolerate handling, but they don't 'like' it in the way a cat or a dog might and a fall from even 12 inches can rupture their abdomen and kill them, so we don't advise handling. You can keep tarantulas without EVER having to physically handle them ;)

I had once when I was a kid and yes, they are quite interesting. And quite cheap to raise too. You can feed them worms which you can get in your garden. Make sure to get a good aquarium and a heater to keep it warm. I like your thinking, Juggal. It's best to face our fears rather than shy away from them. :)

I think the cat is the best poet. Because it is very sweet and cute.

Cats are good too. Every time I see a cat, I go into this weird cute mode and go pet and scratch their little ears. I find kittens much more enjoyable than adult cats. I noticed your profile picture too!! :D

Nearly everyone loves their cats. The truth is I find them so cuddly and huggable (if there exists such a word). The soft fur and the cute little ears make me play with nearly every cat I meet. I'm known as a bit of an animal lover because of the fact that I instantly bond with every animal I meet. There's a huge tree right in front of my house with a little squirrel family and I'm great friends with them. xD

I have two dogs and they are the best company you can get i work nights so my missus is in the house on her own a lot. So i got the dogs to make her feel safe and they are great company they are so funny when they play together. I feel your cant get that with another pet such as a cat or a rabbit. I think that a dog definatly has more personality about it than other pets.

Quite right, olliekobra1. And there's something fun about running around playing with a dog that is hard to get from other kinds of pets. They are really loyal and over time, form a bond so strong it can match that of a family's!

I think you need to have a genuine interest in and passion for whichever pet you choose. You need to research that animal, whether it's a cat, dog, snake or bird, before you go to the store to buy one. There are lots of factors to be taken into consideration such as time, space, finances etc. You need to be able to cater for the diet e.g. if you get a pet bearded dragon, you're going to need to feed it bugs, so you can't be terrified of them. Personally, I have enough pets at home. We keep snakes, lizards, tarantulas, birds, rabbits, mantids, you name it! The best pet is one you love and that loves you and is always going to be in your heart and your home. No point getting a puppy and then abandoning or rehoming it because your realise you don't have time to walk it, enough money to feed it or get fed up of it weeing on the carpet every other day.
