Has anyone ever met someone in person that they initially met online?

I have personally met 4 people that I have met through an online poker chat room in person. One of them happens to be my wife so I am wondering if anyone else here has met an online friend in real life and have you continued to keep in contact as well as continuing to meet in person after the initial meeting?

I have a whole second family, most of whom I've only ever talked to online. In December I got to meet several of them at a concert in Chicago. It was awesome because it really was like we'd known each other forever and were "reuniting" - we are a great big awesome family.

That is awesome crimsonladybug. You can easily cultivate strong relationships with people online. I know I have strong connections with 3 of the 4 aforementioned people. The 4th one I kind of fell out of touch with as time went on which is fine by me life happens.

I have met my husband and two of my close friends online. One of my friends and I used to chat and exchange emails and one day we decided to meet in person. Our meeting went really well. We talked for hours and we had so much in common. We both wanted to meet again, and we started spending a lot of time together. Today we have been offline friends for almost 10 years. My other friend and I met eachother 5 years ago and we have also become very good friends. My husband and I met eachother on the friendship/dating site, and in May this year we have been married for 3 years.

Many moons ago I met a guy on MySpace. We fell in love online, we met in person (in public and we both had someone with us for safety). We got engaged. He cheated and in the end it just didn't work out. We were both young and dumb, much smarter now! That's my (short) story with meeting someone online
