In a 'dog eat world', somebody is always watching you.

Yesterday evening, while my child and I were enjoying the floral arrangement of my garden, I noticed that a small lizard was basking itself on a branch of flowers. As the young lizard continued to stretch its tiny limb (gymnastically), a bigger lizard jumped out of nowhere, caught the unsupecting lizard and swallowed it up! Yikes, could you imagine my surpise, as I spilled my drink on my lap! My child asked me what happenned there, as she saw the smaller lizard disappearing in front of her eyes. As soon as I tried to explain the first situation to her, a stranger event occurred to us. No sooner than the bigger lizard gobbled up the smaller one, a (raven) bird flew out of nowhere, en route towards its target, caught the bigger lizard in its claw and flew away with it. This time, my daughter was even more startled that me, as the bird's wing brushed against her tiny face; while escaping with the bigger lizard cluctched in its claw. After explaining the second event to my daughter, she (in her simple way) was happy that the bird took her revenge on the bigger lizard; while I remembered that in a 'dog eat dog world' somebody has to be always watching you.

You could never possibly dream of watching a scene like that unfold. In a sense, you were extremely lucky. You never know, perhaps the raven was shot down a couple of blocks away or something. But yeah, there's someone -or something- always watching you... gotta be careful.

Perhaps, you may be correct about the possible demise of the raven.., having had a rare 'two meals in one' sitting experience! Interesting thought of this bird choking on its meal. Ooh dear.

Lucky, unlike in the animal world, we do not get eaten up by our predators...I would say we would be criticized, backstabbed, taken advantaged, mocked, insulted, slighted or belittled...hmm, thats bad enough already, dont want to think about it Lol...

That was live food chain experience. It would probably be one unforgettable event for your little child. It's a good thing she gets to learn something based on a live experience as it will be easier to explain and it will get directly into her. In this world, the predator can be the prey anytime with or without it's knowing. If it tells us something, it's about watching our own back.

What a cute story to share with us....and you are right. Someone is always watching to see what we do...nature must instill this in us!
